Supermarket circulars

Do you use them to meal plan and make a grocery list for the week? And do you flip through the printed ones or the online circular?

Yes, always. I flip through the actual circular to make my list, then plan my menu mainly based on the proteins on sale. I'm a sahm so I definitely need to be conscious of what I spend. I also have 2 kids with me when I shop so I need a set list bc my brain can't function beyond getting exactly what's on the list while I'm in the store.

Re: Supermarket circulars

So I flip through them to know when to stock up on things like detergent, paper goods, and canned goods. But for regular shopping, I just shop.

we tend to eat similar things week to week, so i compare prices for the two supermarkets we go to to make sure we're getting the best deal for our staples. i am also a mild but not extreme couponer, so i also plan my stockup deals with my coupons

Same here. I won't pay full price for chicken, strawberries, pasta when I know it'll be on sale for half price somewhere but I don't plan my meals around the sale.

Yes, I plan meals around protein that is on sale. Today I bought some Shady Brook ground turkey for $1.97, so we're having turkey meatballs for dinner.

I use the flipp app to view my circulars. It's pretty convenient.

Re: Supermarket circulars

I look through them every week so I know what's on sale that I might need and whether I should take a trip to that store or not. I don't use them for meal planning purposes.

Re: Supermarket circulars

I look thru them, I get 3 Stop n Shop, Shop Rite and Key Food. Stew''s is on line.
We buy what is on sale and plan meals around the proteins that are on sale.

I am so proud of DH. He has learned how to shop the sales.

I really only buy the staples every week at Stop n Shop (I buy meat from a butcher), so I look through that circular to see what I should stock up on and clip coupons. I don't meal plan around it though.

No cause I really only got to Shoprite and Bjs weekly.

I will look at the circular quickly for special coupons and to see if something is on sale at a better price then what Bjs would have it for.

Re: Supermarket circulars

i usually use a couponing site and also go through the stop and shop site.

i try to plan by sales and/or pick up the staples when they are at a great price point. protein especially.

but now DW is on a limited diet so budgeting and planning went out the window LOL

Supermarket circulars

I will meal plan by sales and like pp I'll pick up stock up items when they're at a great price (pasta, beans, tuna, crackers, condiments, detergent).

Re: Supermarket circulars

only online. it the highlight of my Thursday. I check fairway, stew leonard, and hmart + keyfood in whitestone for lobster sales. I do bulk shopping at fairway because their meat and seafood is better than anywhere else and I live across the street.

i do not make a list or plan meals. i buy whatever is on sale and wing it as im cooking

Yes. I look at the supermarket circular to see what protein is on sale and then I will figure out what I am making for the week based on the sales. I only go to two supermarkets so I figure it out based on which one is having the better sales.

Flipp is amazing!!! Just found out about it... I've been pairing a bunch of stuff up with coupons too and doing really well!!! Love saving money ... can't believe I've been paying full price for some of these things. Takes a lot of time but so worth it

I use the paper circulars, a cuponing site or flipp. Sometimes, I plan meals with it, or I just stick up on s uff in the freezer.

I use mostly Peapod and I find it much easier to shop a sale through there rather then traditional ways. I will try to plan meals around what is on sale and will stock up if possible on things I know I will use.

Re: Supermarket circulars

I do it old-school. The circulars are delivered every Friday morning and I typically shop on the weekend. There are a bunch of supermarkets nearby so I check out the circulars for a bit and see where I can get the most bang for my buck. I do meal plan for the week - lunches and dinners.

I've done it this way forever - even back when I was single and living alone. It doesn't take me much time at all at this point...its just "what I do"

Nope... I wish there was a way to opt out of them. I never even look at them. They get thrown right into the recycling pile.

Same here. I sometimes use them as the lining for the bottom of the bird cage.
