Typical cost of preschool
Hi everyone. I am trying to scenario budget for baby #2 arriving in september. If we decide it makes more sense for me to stay home for a few years (rather than pay to have 2 kids in daycare) I want to send my DD to preschool or a 2's program somewhere. What is the typical monthly or weekly price?
Thanks!!

When my daughter did the 2 year old program in her school it was $160 a month and it was twice a week for two hours each day and snack was included.

my son went to a 3's, then 4's, and then Pre-K class at a part time nurse school. (he missed the kindergarten cut-off with his november birthday) the 3's class was 2 AM a week for 2.5 hours... it was about $200 a month. Then it went up the other 2 years because they were more days. 4's class was 3 AM a week, and the pre-K was 5 AM a week. they also offered other things where we could pay more for him to stay a little longer (a "Lunch Bunch" club, a "sports club" and stuff like that) but those were optional. ( i did a few of them because he is ridiculusly high energy and drives me insane at home! HAHA)

9 to 12, 5 days a week runs us $440 per month I think 9 to 3pm at the same school is $670 a month, before care and after care is $10 an hour.

Re: Typical cost of preschool
I pay annually (sept-June). It's $5600 for 3 days 9-1. From the numbers I'm seeing here, it looks like I'm paying way too much! Lunch is provided, so I don't have to pack one (I think that was an extra cost at the time of enrollment).

The price can vary anywhere from like 1500 a year and up, depending on number of days, number of hours, curriculum, methodology, etc.
The one I really wanted to send Dd to was about $12k a year for p/t, but if I sent her for preschool I would want to continue, and dh pointed out that from preschool-12th we would be making over a 300k investment in dds education

my son's preschool was cheap because it was a co-op. the parents took turns being the teacher's assistant (like once a month or so) so they didn't hire any teacher's assistants. and when it was our day to help, we also brought in the snack for the class. if they did the lunch program, we had to pack one for them. the co-op was more work for me, but it was a nice way to really get to know the other moms and kids. (especially since i'm a SAHM, it helped me make more friends to have playdates for him with....)
