question about appliances and brands

So, if you purchased a suite of appliances (all the same brand), but still needed to purchase a dishwasher... would you buy the same brand just so they all match? Or would you purchase the dishwasher that gets much better reviews even though it is a different brand?

I can't believe I'm obsessing over this... how ridiculous! But, here I am doing exactly that. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would purchase the appliance I like best, as long as it will look ok. Doesn't have to match exactly.

When we purchased our kitchen appliances we purchased our dishwasher, range and microwave matching. our fridge looks perfect with them, but we didn't like the fridge that matched so we purchasd another brand.

Can't even tell so get what you like as long as they look decent together!

Get the one with the better reviews.

But whatever you do... don't buy a figidaire. we have a whole house full of them and they've been nothing but trouble since day 1.

Don't feel like you have to buy the same brand. Buy what features work best for you. It's perfectly ok to mix things up.

I'm a little anal about things like this so I got the same brand and style for ALL of my kitchen appliances. If everything was a different brand I'd twitch while I was in the kitchen but that's just me. LOL

please go visit showrooms! if you want to buy at home depot or pc richards, thats fine ( youre unable to purchase at showrooms anyway) but i HIGHLY advise anyone shopping for appliances to take time out and visit showrooms where the staff knows what they are talking about!

i spent last Saturday afternoon at the Wolf showroom. i was set on getting a wolf range but spending time there is making me look at other brands. Dont get me wrong, they were extremely informative and professional. They have one of the top products out there! I just dont think it has EVERYTHING I need in a range. Had I not gone, and just bought what I was set on getting for YEARS

plllllllleasee go to showrooms!!

I’m curious, nosey and I guess completely ignorant when it comes to range options. What are you requirements?

I always thought they were pretty standard, burners & oven with a couple of options like a self-cleaning oven.

Re: question about appliances and brands

One major issue is wolfs highest btu is only 15,000! I bought a GE stove in January that I'm satisfied with (given the space I currently have) and I believe the power burner is 22,000. Vikings burners are 18,500. I'm now looking at bluestar based out of Pennsylvania. Dh and I will be visiting their showroom in the next few weeks.

My requirements : 8 burners, all power burners (one might be the weak one). I don't need a griddle or bbq grill in the stove. Simple requirements. I would like a second clean oven, which wolf is NOT but I can live without it since I'm not a messy cook. I am also getting wall oven(s) and I need them to have French doors. Wolf has no plans on putting French doors on ovens.

Interesting features are steam ovens. I will have to play around with it at a test kitchen though.

Agreed.. I wouldn't give it a thought. Having a worse appliance and then having to live with it for years to come would bother me. I'm all about things being functional though.
