Speed dating
I'm thinking of doing this but nervous. I'm tired of online dating though.
I don't want to have high hopes, can't handle the disappointment.
Who goes to speed dating, professionals? Gym rats?
Why do men go, I can see women going but not men, what if there is more females than males. I've had really bad relationships though. What if my ex husband is one of the guys?
Will I be the only chubby one?
Does my friends wait at the bar or do I go alone if they can't make it?

Speed dating
I've done a couple, not in years though. From my own experience, others may have had different ones, only very weird, socially awkward men partake in speed dating. The women usually seem normal. I did go out on one date from it, it was a disaster. Go with friends and have very low expectations...you and your friends will have a few laughs!

I never did it, but I once walked into a bar where they were just wrapping up a speed dating event. The men appeared just as PP described.

I feel like in person speed dating is kind of obsolete now given how the dating apps work. IMHO I wouldn't waste my time unless it was with my girlfriends for a few laughs.

I met my DH in 2003 at a speed dating event. We are both educated professionals. We're married 12 years.
The events can attract all types, depends upon how they were tailored. The event we attended was one of the first on LI.
Neither one of us ever had luck with the on-line sites. Too many people seems great "on paper" and many lie or there's just no chemistry.

I tried it years ago, when it was first a thing. Initially the quality of men was fine - I dated two guys from the first one I went to - but it declined steadily over the years. The last one I went to, many many years ago, was demoralizing. Go with a good attitude and you never know, you may be surprised!
