Hospice and flowers
Dh's best friend's dad just got admitted to hospice. We are going to say our goodbyes tomorrow. Do we bring flowers or something? He's not the flowers type but was thinking it may cheer up the room or maybe his wife since she is staying with him. We are very close to the whole family. My dd calls then grandma and grandpa. I don't know the right thing to do.

Hospice and flowers
No matter what others on here say, Before you bring anything Call the hospice center and see if they allow items to be brought in. They might say no.
I dont recall seeing flowers etc in hospice and would say no to flowers. Plus things like flowers can produce odors which can be problematic for those that are sick. You being their is all the family needs.

If they do not allow flowers, then maybe bring a picture colored by your DD to lift their spirits.

Maybe a gift card for food? Or even a big bag of snacks that they can eat as theyre keeping time there?

I'm going to call tomorrow and see if we can bring flowers but thank you definitely going to have dd draw then a picture. She is only 3 but she loves making cards.

Both are very picky with food. But I'll send the bf a text in the morning and see if they would even use a gift card. They are old school and life everything made from scratch. Plus dad is very frustrated because he can't eat on his own anymore. His mind is still there but his body is failing quickly.

When my mom was in hospice, little handmade gifts and food were really appreciated.
Could your DD draw pictures? My mom's close friend's daughters would draw her pictures, and we all loved them.

Just went through this with my dad. They let us bring in whatever we wanted... even his favorite wine 
We enjoyed an edible arrangement & flowers were great too. They did brighten up the room.

My grandma loved flowers when she was on hospice but it was in our home so no restrictions. I actually like plants since they don't die.

We ended up bringing flowers. This particular hospice allows everything to be bought up. We were the only ones who bought anything and they were very appreciative. We also ran out and got food and drinks so everyone was happy about that. We were there all day today and I'm taking one of the kids all week so they don't have to worry about him.
We are extremely close to them and dh's best friend was getting annoyed because all these relatives were coming out of the woodwork to say goodbye but it was all about the relatives and not dad and the immediate family. The last time any of us has seen or spoken to any of these people was probably over 10 years ago. These relatives are trying to hug and kiss the boys who are all less than 7 yrs of age and the boys were not having it. These people are strangers so I'm so glad we were there with our other best friend to keep the kids kind of away from these people because you could see the kids were getting overwhelmed.

We are more family to each other than blood. There are 5 of us and we have been through everything together. Our kids are very close too. This is our 3rd dad passing in 2 years so it's been really rough. So we all understand what the family is going through and are just trying to be as helpful as we can.
