Re: Just booked Ireland
No help to you... but hoping to do this next year with a 2, 6 & 8 year old! Please get in touch with me after your trip!!! We went as a newlywed couple to Dublin & took train to Galway. It was was and great... we stayed in the city and in a cool castle. We were looking to go back this year, but the now 1.5 year old is a pain.

Just booked Ireland
so fun!!! loved ireland!!! we went before kids - but we did the Blarney castle, Cliffs of Moher were cool to see, the Guiness Factory tour is neat, even with kids i think. we also went to Powerscourt Gardens, which were neat, too- the kid would have fun running around there i think... we also drove on the Ring of Kerry which had some neat things to see... and we did the Jameson Distillery.

Re: Just booked Ireland
So..
When are you going?
How long are you staying?
Have you any ideas of what you want to see when you are there - ideas of what you think Ireland is like?
How are you getting around? Car hire?

Re: Just booked Ireland
We are going end of August.
We will be flying into Dublin, then heading west to Killarney and Shannon area, flying out of Shannon airport. We are flying Aer Lingus.
Was originally planning to do a few days in London and then do western Ireland. Decided instead to do Dublin.
I planned the trip lightly based on the Adventures by Disney itinerary. Will start in Dublin which I am still researching what exactly we will do. Spend 2 nights. Rent a car drive across stopping at Rock of Cashel and Blarney Stone on way to Killarney. Staying at Killarney Park Hotel. Not sure if we will do 2 or 3 nights here. Visiting Killarney National Park and attractions for 1 day. Planning to drive Ring of Kerry 1 day.
Then heading north. Staying at Dromoland Castle. They have all kinds of activities at the hotel which we will check out for 1 day. Planning to do the dinner at Bunratty Castle. Then spend a day visiting Cliffs of Moher.
Will have 7 full days not including travel days.

Re: Just booked Ireland
I would recommend the hop on hop off bus in Dublie - you will get to see a ton of stuff plus its a lot of fun for the kids and kids under 14 are free!!
I would consider stopping in Cork for a day before Killarney - thats a lot of driving if you are planning on doing Dublin to Killarney and stopping twice along the way.
Killarney will be worth it - haven't been in years but its beautiful.
Cliffs of Moher a definite must..they have a cool exhibition center there which shows a 3D short movie for the kids which they like -they also sell lots of souvenirs if you want to shop before you leave. IF you get a change to stop in Doolin village its cute - small but a couple of good pubs with traditional irish music.
Remember Ireland at any time of the year has unpredictable weather so pack accordingly!
Have fun!

Just booked Ireland
You probably dont need a full day at the cliffs. I would def go to the blarney castle to kiss the stone. With kids it might be tough but def the jameson and guiness factories are cool. We also did a dinner and a show with irish dancers which was fun. Also, remember to specify automatic when renting a car. Driving was not too bad considering it was on the other side but we drove mostly in the countryside and not much in dublin.
I went there on my bachlorette party and it was a blast!!!

There's a guy at the Blarney Stone who's sole job is to clean the stone in between crazy people who are trying to kiss it, lol. The position to kiss it is crazy (and they'll sell you a pic of you doing it) but it's something to say you've done.
