Disney Timing...

looking to go in 2018...

I'm torn between going in early Feb or early March vs going in Mid-Sept or Early Oct

wanting to see and do almost everything!! my daughter wants to go on splash mountain badly so if she is 40 inches by then i want to take her. so this ride needs to be open then.

1. out of these choices which would you pick and why?

2. what would be your perfect time to go to disney? (if you didnt have school or work or finances to take into account)

Feb and March can be chilly. In the fall, there is the risk of hurricanes. I'd probably go in the fall.

I'm a teacher and am planning on taking my DS in October 2019 (when he's 5). We get to use 3 personal days so we'll just be doing 5 days.

Re: Disney Timing...

I don't deal well with heat, and it's still hot there in mid-sept. I'd choose feb/march.

Look up the climate of Orlando... it is averages... but it may help.
I love September as the ideal time to go. There are low crowds, it is still nice and warm and the Halloween party things have just started.

Disney Timing...

We're going mid-end september this year. The food and wine festival is going on, mickeys not so scary Halloween party, crowds are low, weather is cooler than summer but warm enough to still use the pools.

Re: Disney Timing...

Is late Feb an option? Like the week after President's week? That's when I would go. We went last year and had nice weather and the crowds were manageable. I love the idea of fall because of all the events, but it can be really really hot still and I just can't deal with that.

It rains a lot in the fall, at least IME. I would pick February. Not hot, but typically warm. Less crowds since no Halloween parties at that time.

I would do the Feb-March. We've been going in the Sept-Oct timeframe the past few years (we've gone every other year) and it's been really hot. And last time it was really crowded.

Re: Disney Timing...

If you want to guarantee Splash is open I would go in the fall.

We go for Feb break frequently and I remember one year it was under refurbishment from something like Jan - March.

They're more likely to close the water rides when it's not that hot out.

Personally if I could go anytime I would go the week after President's week or maybe early January after New Year's but before MLK. Low crowds but no heat.

Mid Sept is supposed to also be an ideal time to go crowd wise but I personally would not tolerate the heat.

Re: Disney Timing...

You have a better shot of Splash Mountain running in September/October than in February or March. Most ride rehabs/closures are done in non-peak times. The last couple of times we have gone in January/February/March Splash has either been closed the entire week, a partial week or it's been too chilly to ride.

. Same here. We choose it because we knew kids would love to swim, and it's a lower crowd month.

I'd go early October. The weather will still be nice, crowds shouldn't be too bad. My BIL and SIL go down that time of year often.

I would go in the fall. Feb and March you run the risk of snow delaying your trip AND you also will start crashing into winter recess and springs breaks.

Sept is a really great month, crowds are super low and everything is decked out for the fall. You can also take advantage of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and the Food and Wine Festival in Epcot. October is also very nice and not too busy. The weather will be warmer than Feb/March too so you can take advantage of the resort pools.

My ideal times to go are early May, the fall, and the weeks between Thanksgiving and Xmas. Chat Icon

ETA - Disney tends to do a lot of refurbs in the winter months so you might find a few things closed down if you go at that time.
