Speaking of theatre: Come From Away

I cannot recommend this show enough. It is such a beautiful telling of a true story - of the people of Newfoundland taking care of 38 planes' worth of international travelers whose flights were routed there during the hours of September 11, 2001 when American airspace was shut down. The music is more folksy than most Broadway musicals, rooted in the traditional sounds of Newfoundland. Just incredibly moving and touching; I cried at least five times during it, but there are lots of lighthearted humorous moments as well with the intermingling of people from all walks of life and from all over the world.
I want to see it over and over. I never EVER download the soundtracks for Broadway shows but I've already listened to it twice since the show last night.
It opens on Sunday and if you have had any interest, I'd highly recommend buying your tickets now before the reviews come out.

Thank you for posting this. I'm familiar with the story and all the individual stories of some of those that were stuck. I debated if I'd want to see it in Broadway as a show, but now I think I will.

Awesome.

I've never seen an entire audience, packed to the brim, FLY to their feet at the curtain call like I saw last night.

I just got a chill thinking about it!

It's in previews right now. Saturday will be their final preview before opening night (which is when the reviews come out)...you'll be getting the same performance Saturday as you'd get after opening, though Chat Icon

The theatre is average-sized. No balcony like the Longacre (where you saw A Bronx Tale) I was in mezzanine row G alllllll the way to the left and my view was fine! Center mezz or an aisle seat in the orchestra would be my personal preference if I were buying tickets.

Speaking of theatre: Come From Away

We're going in May to see it. My husband works in theatre and said if we don't get tickets now, we won't see it for at least a year or more. He said it will be the biggest thing since Hamilton.

We have a friend who saw it in D.C. and was RAVING about it, so we bought tickets (FOR EACH OTHER UGH) for Christmas. We gave my parents one set, and they saw it the first week of previews -- they CANNOT stop raving about it. We go in two weeks, and I CAN'T WAIT. I loved the book when it came out, and this is what I've been looking forward to since December.
