Another passport photo question
I went to cvs Saturday to get my photo for my passport renewal. The girl told me my hair had to be entirely behind my head and that I could not smile at all.
Is this a new thing? In my previous passport photo I had my hair pretty normal - not in my face or anything, but at least it was visible so I didn't look like a bald man!!
I'm wondering if the girl was just really strict or if this is how it is now. Needless to say, my picture is utterly horrendous. If it was just this particular girl I'll actually go to another cvs and pay for a new set of photos.
Total first world problem- I know.

Another passport photo question
Made me put my hair behind my ears as well at Costco. It looked terrible so I just put it all back. LOL. I also smiled but it was natural imo so hopefully they accept that. They already cashed the checks (2 weeks ago now) ... I would hope all is well? Idk... My pic is horrendous too... dont feel bad!

Haha thanks. Ok I guess it's just how it is now. Definitely stricter than ten years ago. Yuck!!

I just got mine done and it's true you can't smile. The girl who did mine said nothing about my hair. It was a little bit across my forehead but otherwise my face was unobstructed.
(I got mine done at the post office)

Apparently showing your teeth changes the normal look of your face or the shape of you face or something like that, which is why they don't want to see teeth. You can smile.

Apparently showing your teeth changes the normal look of your face or the shape of you face or something like that, which is why they don't want to see teeth. You can smile.
Meanwhile when they check your passport they barely glance at it....much less do a facial recognition algorithm that might get thrown off by my teeth

Yep. And how does it help when my photo looks like a 70 year old scowling greasy man with a low ponytail in the back? I like to believe this isn't what I look like when I show up to airport security.

I totally agree. Not saying it makes sense, but that is why they do it.

At JFK international arrivals they have those facial recognition machines, they probably need it for those.

Yes, we had pics taken back in Nov and it was the same thing. Hair behind our ears and no smiles. Our pics look like mugshots lol

i did my passport in oct. first picture I had taken they told me I couldnt smile. the second picture i had taken I smiled. My passport app was accepted.
the requirement is that it is a natural smile.

So I just took my photos tonight. The woman said closed mouth smile was fine. I had my face fully showing, but my hair covers my ears. I looked at the regulations it does not say you have to show your ears or pull your hair back.

They did recently change the rules for photos. Now, if you wear glasses, you have to take the off, too

You can smile - you just can't show your teeth. It was painful to get my kids pictures done. One is smiling without teeth and the other one's looks like a mugshot.

At JFK international arrivals they have those facial recognition machines, they probably need it for those.
This. Most international flights I have been on the airports use the machines now.
