We're headed to DC for 2 days with a 7 year old and 3 year old. Anyone have a recommendation for a family friendly hotel? Also any fun restaurants for kids or anything I should add to my must do list! I haven't been there in years! TIA

Re: Washington DC

My DS is 7 and he just went in August. He LOVED the air and space museum and also the Spy Museum. For that age, it's a must-do. He also really enjoyed Ford's Theater...but he's a big history buff so he's very into that kind of stuff. The monuments were overall unimpressive for him, but he liked the museums.

For food, Georgia Brown's and Hard Rock Cafe are both good with kids.

Yes!

We stayed at the Crystal Gateway Marriot in Arlington (Crystal City) Virginia. You can park right under the hotel. We left our car there the 4 nights we stayed. Indoor pool. The fabulous part is that it is part of a series of underground tunnels. The tunnels take you to a ton of restaurants, shops, drug stores, dunkin donuts etc. you can buy metro cards right there in the metro store and there is a very convenient metro stop right under the hotel in the tunnels. We were there in April and it was rainy and chilly. We could walk indoors to around 20 restaurants (tons of family choices) and then only about 20 feet to the restaurant door. Would stay there again.

Re: Washington DC

We stayed in the same hotel last September. It is in a great location, close to the city but still quiet. We ate at Spike Mendelsohn's restaurant Good Stuff Eatery our first night and it was delicious!! It is right down the street. Their burgers and shakes are amazing! We had room service twice and it was great! The Metro was very conveniently located and it was nice having stores in the mall so close. We will absolutely stay again for our next trip.

Re: Washington DC

We stayed at our time share last April in National Harbor. We loved the zoo, museums and even went to a ball game. Parking was a pain so we parked at the Ronald Regan building every day.

Re: Washington DC

I have a 7yo DS and they totally go nuts at the pokestops at the museums.

Jw Marriott is centrally located. Gaylord in National Harbor is popular with out of towners.

When we didn't live here, we came down and stayed at AKA White House. It had a full kitchen and very central. My friend booked it and cost was reasonable.

We stayed for two days last week over the school holiday. We stayed at the Omni Shoreham which is walking distance to the zoo. For the museums and monuments we took the metro and the circulator bus. It was pretty easy. Took my kids ages 4,4 and 6. We parked our car in valet during our two night stay.

I would recommend checking out the National Museum of the American Indian - it has a great kids area upstairs and not that crowded. All museums are free so you can just pop in. We walked from there to Air & Space.
