New Here - RE Reccomendations

Hi Ladies - I'm new to posting here, but I have been reading this board for the past year. DH and I have been struggling with severe MFI. We have done IVF (with ICSI) twice with RSNY, and have had disappointing results - we start off with about 30 eggs but end up with only two embryos on day 5. RSNY suggested changing the medication so that I produce less eggs, which they believe will produce better embryos and add PICSI. DH and I are starting to feel like we should change RE’s, and I have read people on this board saying to stay far away from RSNY. Can you ladies please recommend your RE’s? Also has anyone started at RSNY but had success elsewhere? I think about starting over elsewhere and feel so overwhelmed and like I potentially wasted so much time with RSNY. I should also add that we have also been seeing a Urologist, DH had a bi-lateral varicocele surgery and has had the SCSA testing done – our urologist feels IVF with ICSI should be successful for us.

Thank you! Sorry this was so long.

Hello there! I too had two failed Ivf cycles at rsony. Although I ended up hating how they handle things I credit them with getting my half way there to having my baby. I ended up switching to Cornell. They were amazing and gave me my baby girl. It doesn't hurt to have a second opinion! If you have any questions feel free to fm me ??

I highly recommend my RE- Dr. Palter at Gold Coast IVF in Woodbury. The staff is incredible and so on top of everything and Dr. Palter is top notch. If you have any specific questions or concerns, feel free to pm. Good Luck!

I need to follow this- I have been with RSNY with some history too. I don't love how everything goes there at times- a bit of a crazy place- but I really like some of the nurses and staff- and Dr. Trivax seems really vested in his patients. I may have to leave just due to the fact that they are not a "Center of Excellence" with my insurance- and have met with two other RE's (RMANY was very appealing- having met with Dr. Macavey) however, there main offices for any procedures are in Manhattan- and that is a bit of a pain... Good luck with whichever way you go!

Is the quality of his sperm ok? You said you're dealing with severe MFI, so I can't imagine it's only the egg. But 30 eggs in a single cycle is a lot. I do agree you probably need to aim for quality over quantity. Are the embryos arresting between days 3-5? Egg DNA carries them days 0-3. Day 3 is when the sperm DNA kicks in, so that should give you an idea of what you're dealing with.

As for REs, I'd recommend RMA NY.

I was with RSNY for a year with no results. We switched to Cornell and I got pregnant with my now two year twins on our first cycle. It's in the city which can be difficult but I feel the time put in was 100% worth it. Good luck!

I had 2 cycles of ivf with li ivf. My first cycle I had 22 eggs but ended up with only 1 5d embryo which we transferred and failed. We also had mfi our next cycle re stated that some embryos just don't do well outside of body lets do 3D embryo and transfer 2, so that's what we did cause in my previous cycle my embryos looked great on day 3 then all stopped growing between day 3 and 5. So on my second cycle they put the two best embryos in me and 1 stuck! Now I'm 23 weeks pregnant. Did they talk to you about doing a day 3 transfer instead of waiting til day 5? I would def get a second opinion at the very least.

Hi! I used LI IVF. I was very happy with them. They were able to pinpoint my diagnosis (something NYU wasn't able to do) and find the right protocol. I got pregnant with my now 3 year old DD on the first shot. It took a couple of extra cycles with testing and stuff to ensure everything was status quo, but once it was all figured out, I got pregnant!
I learned a lot from LI IVF. When TTC DC2, I ended up at a different place because I had moved 5 hours away. They ended up doing a protocol my doctors at LI IVF ruled out for a couple of reasons. I never mentioned this to the RE, because I figured she knew what she was doing.... I ended up having a MC. for my FET I pleaded with them to follow the protocol that gave my my little girl and they did. I am now 30 weeks pregnant from that cycle.
The doctors at LI IVF know their stuff!

Re: New Here - RE Reccomendations

congrats!
I am doing a last cycle at RSNY- while I still have some insurance wiht them. Due to insurance issues I was between RMA (which I loved the physician I met there) and LI IVF. I think if this next cycle doesn't work- I will have to chose LI IVF as RMA does all procedures in Manhattan. Just not convenient. I am glad you had success there- seeing good success rates may help me make a decision if i need to. Which doctor did you see?
