If the election was today?

I've decided that this is what "they"'(people in power) want - all us little people pitted against one another, arguing, fighting. They want us divided and angry. To avoid having time to think about our real plights and how our plights are a result of ineffective politicians and our government.

Haaaaaa... And I'm sure all those inner-city registered Dems (if they're even registered), and those most reliant on government benefits are some of the most highly educated Americans.

And THAT is why you're a Trump voter I assume.

You honestly had no comment on that disgusting reply on the education of most trump supporters? Not just in general, but on this forum? But you just couldn't hold back replying to someone who had a negative comment about democrats - are you serious right now ?

Some people on these threads, and this includes you kitten, seem to only jump down the throats of anyone who ever has an opinion different than your own. And I mean JUMP down their throat. Not debate

It's really annoying to be honest. I learn nothing new from this type of back and forth. It just makes me wish LIF had an unfollow button so I can skip the replies I wish I didn't read

ETA: I just read your next reply and see you were jumping to the defense of the minority community that you automatically assumed that last PP was talking about. yes. I know. It's your own personal crusade to let all
Of the world know of your white guilt and how if no other person a shade lighter than the next doesn't feel it, they are racist

I don't think you really want to go there - she made an ignorant statement about Democrats and people who rely on government benefits, and I'm the bad guy? Give me a break. I didn't say one word about race - YOU did. Don't try to start an argument about race where there isn't one.

Are you absolutely serious right now????
you start an argument about race every chance you get
I won't bring up every friggin post about it.

I did not bring up race in this instance. Sure, I have in the past, but not here.

She made a statement in response to the intelligence level of Trump supporters - something I didn't say boo about - I don't care what the intelligence level is of a Trump supporter. She made an ignorant statement about the intelligence of Democrats while simultaneously lumping them in with the inner city and people who rely on government benefits - those are people of ALL races and genders, and statistically speaking, blacks and whites are equally benefiting (39% versus 38% respectively). It was a ****** dig at a marginalized faction of the population that she equates intelligence level to poverty.

I have honestly come to the conclusion that you are just not a person to ever be reasoned with on a human level.
I try very hard to ignore your replies but sometimes i just cannot help myself. And that is my issue, not yours.

I wish you nothing but success in your effort to educate the world on all the wrong doings of anyone you personally don't care for.

I have seen a lot more people talking about Hillary's and Bernie's plans and the merits of each and discuss exactly what Trump will do that is so problematic.

But on the right? "Everything's horrible, Hillary suckks, I'm voting Trump." Well ok, what does that mean? What do you think is so horrible, and how do you think Trump can fix it?

YES!!!! I was thinking about starting another post to ask specifically, if you are voting FOR Trump,(not against Hilary), what are the reasons - to ask specifically, what do you LIKE about Trump?. Maybe I will eventually, but things seem to be getting a little heated today, so maybe I'll wait a little while Chat Icon

Oh yeah - I think I might have started that one, too (kind of forgot about it lol! It is something that I wonder about frequently) But thought that maybe now that the 2 major party candidates have officially been nominated, there could be a more informed response

You won't be able to do that
If someone says hey are voting for trump , even they even try to say it aloud (so to speak) the brigade comes out and beats them down. There is no healthy, safe discussion on this forum when it comes to politics. which is why the poll here is showing such a high turn out for trump, with less than a handful of people saying a word.
Most people just don't think it's worth the effort to fight off the mob.

Just being honest and I'm not speaking for everyone. It's my assumption is all

I think that happens because, and this is my observation not just here but IRL, the reasons have been BS and easily refuted with facts.

For instance, Benghazi. Someone (not here) was arguing that they were voting for trump because Hillary gave a stand down order. There were I think 8 committees that have shown over and over that no stand down order was given. But, and this actually was said, in the movie about Benghazi, there was a stand down order.

So a movie is where their facts came from. I couldn't believe what I was reading.

And I do believe many if not most trump supporters are supporting him because he's not Hillary. At the same time, there are people voting for Hillary because he's not trump.

Liz you're right - there are a good # of people voting for one or other solely based on "I refuse to vote for her, so he's it" and the other way around.
Whether you or I think that's not the smartest way to go about it, that's their choice to make.
There is a way to debate theories and such without degrading them as a person , KWIM?
I think you do

Given that Trump has never held a political position, people don't have any facts to point to to support his rhetoric. Honestly, Obama ran on a "Hope and Change" platform in 2008 because he too had little political experience at that point.

I have a close relative voting for trump. My PARENTS are voting for trump. They aren't racist or ignorant and I'm truly shocked that they are. They voted Obama. My mom was all about Hillary for years but something changed.

I'm not sure what changed but she felt Obama didn't do a good job. I look at Obama and we got gay marriage approved, caught Osama, we kind of got back on track from the economic downfall of '07-08. (Not perfect but better). We got people insured and they can't be denied for pre existing health issues. I see a lot of good that happened. Not perfect, but progress.

My parents didn't like the cozying up to other leaders. Or him going to Cuba. (I have to ask her today what she thinks now about Trump and Putin and their weirdo bro crush on one another.). They like that he "speaks his mind." They aren't scared people who think the world is all doom and gloom but I think they are just tired and beaten down. Older, fixed income, paying out the ass in taxes in NY, worked hard their whole lives. I think they just are tired. Trump reaches those people. He offers some assurance and since he's new and not a politician, they find him appealing.

I think they and others feel burned by dems. Keep hearing how the dems will help increase salaries, equal pay for women, job growth. It hasn't been revealed for them. Maybe others but not them.

They liked sanders but knew he wouldn't be it. They also found whatever tax plan trump floated around as being better for them.

I know people think whoever must vote for him must be an arrogant, mysogynistic and racist jerk, but my parents and others in family aren't. I think there's a lot of people like them. Just fed up.

Now me ... I'm not voting for him.

I think people who don't vote are those that are saying that, since it is a right that we take for granted that many around the world do not have.

How exactly do statements like that add to discussions? They just distract and add fuel to an already hot topic.

I appreciate your response, but I see most of it being why they are not voting for Hillary (or Democratic party) - not reasons to vote FOR Trump. I would love to see Trump supporters just make a list of reasons why they are voting FOR Trump (without even mentioning Hillary or Obama or the Dems). Specific things he has said he will do, that they think are realistic ideas, that they stand behind as being good for this country.

I'm a liberal and all and even I know the Rs and conservatives get crap around these parts Chat Icon I think everyone has some common ground. I think that's what we need to focus on - the things that bind us together and go from there.

I think in general, we all want the same. We don't want war. We don't want our soldiers to leave, fight and possible die. We all would like a boost in our household incomes. We want peace to practice whatever religion we have. We all would like to have good, solid healthcare. We don't want violence in our streets or schools. .. It's just the "how do we there?" part that we get stuck on.

There was one a couple of months ago. I didn't learn much from it though.

I provided a list the last time this came up. Let me see if I can find it

I gotcha.

To add two things they like:

Immigration policy - wanting people here legally and fixing and streamlining the process to become legal (it's a cluster ****)

Keeping business here in US and penalizing those who go overseas

(Again, I don't agree. And I'm surprised by them. But I do acknowledge sooooo many people have been let down. People are just tired and look at tRump and think, well, if can't get any worse). Again - I don't agree. But I can sort of get the mentality.

How exactly do statements like that add to discussions? They just distract and add fuel to an already hot topic.

they don't but it is getting pretty old having to sit back and just "take" being attacked. I mean, isn't this was liberals are always so bent about?

Funny. Your liberal friends make comments like that all the time. Go ask them.
