Backyard Play...

What kind of toys do you all have in your yard for LOs? My daughter is 2.5 and my son is 6mo. I am trying to figure out what I should get for summer fun. She has the little tyke slide and it is way to small for her already so the little climber sets are out. I can't afford one of those crazy wood things. I was looking at the regular metal swing sets, the play cottages, and sandboxes. We have a water table and she likes that. I am just not sure what to get and I don't know what will sit unused and what will get the most playtime?Chat Icon

We just got a small wooden swing set for around 350 from tru. It has two swings, a slide, and a little chalkboard. It's small but good quality.

We also have a step 2 climber, a water table, cozy coupe, trikes, a picnic table. Chalk and bubbles probably get the most use side from the swings.

She has a roller coaster which she loves, a sand box, a water table, a little tykes house and this big plastic climb/slide thing. Check fb groups before you pay retail. Her house I got for $50 and her big climber was $75 and her roller coaster was $30. My sister also got her 2 big balls and a soccer ball and a sprinkler and bubble maker. She has been outside non stop since the weather started getting nicer. She comes home from daycare and we spend at least at least an hour outdoors.

Start with your town. From there FB will suggest other groups.

We have a playhouse,(not used much), a small slide that is small but my 6 yr still uses it lol, a water table that gets used a ton, sprinkler and blow up pool. the pool and sprinkler get used a lot.

Re: Backyard Play...

My girls are the same age diff. Dd1 is about to be 3 and dd2 about to be 1. We have:

A step2 outdoor play house
Water table
Sidewalk chalk
Bubbles

We also have a huge swingset that has three baby swings on it, treehouse and slide

I'm anti sand box. I hate the sweaty, sunscreen, sandy mess. But most people like that.

Backyard Play...

I think we are going to go with the classic swingset with a slide and hang up a toddler swing and a baby swing. We have a water table, our pool and more bubble and chalk than any one kid needs. Pluse she has a little Frozen quad, a bike and a scooter (that she has no idea how to ride but hey..). I would love to get her one of those cottage things but I think she would be bored with it in minutes. I am still on the fence about the sand box...

We got our wood swing set off of craigs list. It's a $3K Wood Kingdom set that we paid $125 for. DH had to disassemble it and reassemble it which was an all day project. Then he power washed it and restained it. He had to replace a couple of beams. It looks brand new. All in it was like $300. My boys love it.

We also have the extreme roller coaster, this motorized quad thing, a mini trampoline, all sorts of water toys - sprinklers, slip and slides, water table and a bounce house that we will put up on nice days.

We have a small pool in the summer and that is it. DS brings random toys outside and we walk to the park for swing set type time.

Same- we have a semi inground pool and when she was younger she had her own baby pool when she was too small to be comfortable in the big pool

She brings her toys outside and /or goes in the pool

I don't have a lot of storage for the big stuff in the winter. My husband freaks out as it is- we have 2 huge custom built sheds and BOTH are filled to the BRIM with stuff

We have no basement so storage is at a premium

Re: Backyard Play...

We have a swing set left by the precious house owners

We bought a step 2 house and the roller coaster

Soccer net. Sand box which we fill with water. Water table

Bubble machine and sprinkler

Best thing we did (saw on Pinterest ). Got a long storage container. Then went to dollar store and got strainers. Cups. Ladles. Pitcher. Funnels etc

It's like a little water pouring station and they love it

Also look in target dollar section. We use chalk and other outdoor stuff.

Laying out a huge sheet and letting them paint is fun too
