VZ girls....if you ever need someone to talk or vent to, please FM me! We all need all the support we can get!

It's so,early in the strike and I can already see how hard it is hitting my DH. He's always telling me not to worry so much (I have anxiety) but since the strike started all I can see is the worry on his face.

If feel so bad for him and for all of the other striking workers.

Hang in there! We are all in this together!

Ladies...just be careful of what you post online about the strike.

If you posted anything quoting something I wrote, please delete.

I don't want to get my DH in trouble for something I wrote online.

Let's keep this post going! It is scary to think of what is going to happen to 40, 000 families.

Did anyone see the commercial Verizon put out against The strike?! Just saw it on ABC, doubt the workers will garner much sympathy after the public sees it.

I don't watch TV so I will most likely never see it. I still feel bad for all of the families who may go into financial ruin for reasons beyond their control. I am very fortunate as I have a great career!

Basically saying the company is working with the union, something about a 4.5% raise and the salary plus benefits package on average breaks down to $130k annually. I was surprised they made it Chat Icon

Yes, that can be the case with OT.

I haven't seen it but that'sridiculous. I would say 130,000 is very exaggerated. I read an article this morning and the base pay is much less than that. Maybe WITH the cost of healthcare added in there AND a ton of OT (so much these people are rarely home) then maybe ok. We haven't personally seen that. Maybe people should examine the 30million dollar paycheck that Lowell Mcadams gets yearly.

Numbers like that often include health care, a portion of the rent/mortgage/tax on the property, electricity/gas usage, etc. The "cost of doing business" sort of stuff. The employee never sees most of that "cost".

Worried but holding on. I didn't think it would go this long.

Yes we call it the "loaded" cost.
I have engineers at my job who are billed out based on a 'cost' of $120 an hour- no way are those guys taking home $120 an hour. We have a formula we use that takes their salary, training costs, their laptop and equipment, paid time off, benefits etc and calculates it all in in addition to their salary.

Sending good wishes and thoughts to all those on strike! Hope it ends soon!
