Hiking Trails?

I've been hitting the gym since January (amen for sticking to a new year's resolution for more than one month Chat Icon ) and am looking for some good trails on the island/off the island as the weather gets nicer. I just heard of Bushkill Falls and am gonna make a daytrip out of it. The only other one I really have gone to is the Sunken Meadow trails..

This is a little far from you but might be worth the trip. It's on my to-do list for this spring/summer. Many friends have done it and recommended it: Kent Falls State Park

If you want to be ambitious, there's Breakneck Ridge. Link

This is a great site with links to lots of places to hike in the Tri State. The ones above are here as well as many others: NY/NY Trail Conference

Cold Spring Harbor State Park in Cold Spring Harbor. Its an awesome trail and it goes from the north shore to the south shore, Massapequa. It has a lot of entry areas. If you want a great hill workout I recommend entering in at Cold Spring Harbor.

Hiking Trails?

Not anything crazy but (it's part of green belt) there is a path that runs through Massapequa preserve up along bethpage parkway. I used to ride my bike along it. Lots of people walk/run/ride along it. Also along the wantagh over to jones beach.

I like that NY/NJ site too

last fall I went to Bear Mt for the first time. Was a strenuous hike but great!

Also try kings park bluffs.

I love running in the preserve and on the Bethpage bike path. I wouldn't necessarily call it a "hiking trail" but it's a great stretch for outdoor exercise.

Where exactly is this park? I first thought Comsett State Park but I guess it's different. Where does the trail begin?

Is this the same as Greenbelt trail?

The entrance is on 25A right before you enter the village of Cold Spring Harbor if you are traveling Eastbound on 25A, right next to Cold Spring Harbor Library.

Ok I know where there that is. Where exactly does the trail start? By the sidewalk or up further?

right in the parking lot of the state park you will see the entrance to the trail, you can't miss it. It starts with a huge climb up a bunch of steps.

Oh nice. I will look harder next time. I have been in the picnic area so I don't know how I missed it. Is there a hill where I can get a double stroller up? Thank you.
