Weight Loss Struggle

Honestly forget working out right now. Weight loss is 95% food so find a program you can stick to. I did medifast. I needed something that was mindless and didn't need to think about my meals.

They all work if you stick to them. You need to take it one day at a time. I stopped weighing myself because the # on the scale would cause me to self sabotage.

I left the working out til I could get myself into a schedule. I lost all my weight with zero exercise.

I did medifast for 6 weeks after my first. The stuff worked for sure but its just very costly and gives you killer headaches when your adjusting to it.

What type of doctor did you see? I would try to see an endocrinologist if you only saw your primary.

How long have you tried each of the programs listed (WW, 21 day fix, etc)? Sometimes you need to do them for an extended period of time to see results.

If diet alone it not working, try to add a little bit of exercise to your day - it doesn't need to be "real" exercise. Maybe get a fitbit and try to make sure you get X # of steps each day. Take the elevator instead of the stairs. Park farther away in the parking lot.

Are you a SAHM or do you work FT?

I am a FTWM and I am on the go pretty much from 5:30am - 9pm. I work out right after work and then pick my DS up from daycare. This is not ideal, but I need to work out for my sanity and I just can not get up at 4:15 am to do it.

If you are a SAHM, you can start going on walks since the weather is getting nicer. They also have a lot of at home workouts. I know Alexa Jean Fitness on IG has an account that shows easy work outs to do at home with your LOs.

I only saw my primary who took blood to check my thyroid. All numbers came back fine. I'm a FTWM. I commute into the city daily. I walk to and from my office daily which is about 1.5 miles away.

I did 3 rounds of 21 day fix and shakeology actually made me gain 5 pounds. Crazy, right? WW I also did for 3 months-results were minimal. Atkins no longer works as well since I've done it on and off for years now. I really just don't know what to do anymore.

I would see both a endocrinologist and a dietician.

What does your normal diet look like?

Breakfast is usually oatmeal with raisins or 2 hardboiled eggs and coffee

Lunch- salad with grilled chicken and EVOO

Dinner-fish, or poultry with veggies. On occasion I will have whole wheat pasta

2 snacks throughout the day usually a fruit or veggie for each

Water intake in about 60-75oz with lemon.

Weight Loss Struggle

I can empathize although I didn't just have a baby, I've had some medical issues and the scale has just gone up and up and up. I am now 45 pounds overweight and it's impacting my health. I too have tried EVERYTHING , it's really not that the programs don't work it's that I have been unable to stick to anything, or was taking medication that was fighting my weight loss. I too have gone for a complete blood work up which I should be getting this week and I'm attempting to resolve some of the reasons I am overeating, which I KNOW I am doing. IT's actually a surprise to me I don't weigh even more. I think many times people don't realize how many calories they are actually consuming but in my case I do and it's WAY too many. That said, I've decided for now to stay away from unhealthy fad type diets and instead am going to start calculating calories taken in each day through My Fitness Pal. I've also signed up for an organic meal delivery service for dinners which my husband, bless his heart, has agreed to cook for me each night -- I Get home MUCH later than him. I am going to plan my calories around dinner being the largest meal (Although I know some will tell me that's not the greatest approach, it's what works for my body) and I will aim to stay around the 1350-1500 calorie mark for now. I am going to avoid processed foods and stick to fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, lean chicken vegetables and then my dinner- I'm not really big on red meat and I am promising myself no drinking for one month to really try and jump start my weight loss and get on track. Not sure if this helps but I am just tired of trying structured diets and failing so I'm hopeful this might work for me. Part of it too I Think is a mindset, you really have to be wiling to go all in and in the beginning it's just not easy and that's where I always seem to fail. Good luck, I know how hard it is and I know that feeling of disgust as I very much feel it now too.

Re: Weight Loss Struggle

I am a FTWM of three and have been stuck at the same number for at least a year at this point. I try to work out when I can find the time and just like you figured it must be my thyroid...which came back with no issues.

My advice as I have finally managed to lose 10 lbs. is to just eat less. I literally just eat half of whatever is on my plate. My problem has always been portion control. Now I find I"m full much more quickly than before. It was hard at first but I feel so good now, its easier to maintain.
