BCP + Endometriosis + almost 40

Long story short AF has gotten worse and worse. I should be on my way to early menopause (low amh high fsh) and that's the reason it's getting bad. Endo pain is at all time high.

Spoke to obgyn today and he said options are
lap for endo & d&c to help w heavy bleeding a bit
Bcp
Iud
Hysterectomy

The only thing holding me back from bcp, and dr agreed , is menopause could be just around the corner and if I go on the pill, it will delay it. But I'm really not liking the idea of yet another surgery. I'm over that. Unless it's needed to live, I'm staying out of the operating room.

I go back to him March 3rd for a sono and to discuss bcp option in detail.

Anyone in the same boat? Age & endo ? Little nervous about hormones at my age but I'm kinda running out of options. AF is insane. Heavy, painful, terrible anxiety at ovulation, b4 AF, while I have it and even the first cpl days she's gone. So I literally lose 2 weeks a month to it. I need relief

I'm in the same boat with the endo pain so I totally know what your going through and refuse hormonal treatment in fear of the side effects. It takes a toll on my life, my pain is two weeks out of a month and I never feel 100%
I wish I had advice but just know you aren't alone :(

Sorry you're dealing with it too

DH and I were talking about it last night and he hates the idea of hormones for me. Because of the amount we used during infertility treatments - we are hoping those didn't do anything to my body down the road. He's trying to push me on surgery. I really don't want to do that. I'm no stranger to surgery, so it's not fear. I'm just over it. And surgery is no guarantee. Only thing is being menopause should be coming sooner than later, the hope is the surgery Keeps me good til that happens. I just don't wanna do the surgery AND STILL need to go on BCP!

This sucks

i had a similar, except i was on bcp to control, and it stopped working. i finally said enough is enough. went in to talk about a hysterectomy. ended up with a doc, who works with one from my regular practice, single incision laproscopic. no external stitches. out-patient, and after the 1st night with the gas pain from the air they pump into you, i felt fine. didn't need pain meds, and i was allowed to go back into the pool the very next day after surgery. i can't say how easy this was. i felt great, no pain, no problems after 24 hours. and never have to worry about the pain and cramping again. so happy i opted for it. if anyone wants the name, PM me, he did a phenomenal job. and this is from someone who has massive issues with anasthesia to begin with. i don't regret the surgery for a second.

A friend of mine had an hysterectomy from all the pain she suffered from Endo.

It was a rough decision to make; but she went thru with it. She also wasnt dealing with another Lap/D&C either. She felt it was all or nothing.

She was 37 at the time; and just couldn't deal with the painful periods, etc anymore.

After her surgery they were able to see endo covered througout her ovaries almost like a thick Netting. But her surgery was not Laparoscopic. (I forget why). So her recovery was just a bit longer than going thru Laparoscopically. But she healed nicely; just took it easy for a few weeks.

Good Luck in any decision you make.
