Read all the responses and I think it would be best to have your parents do the bedtime routine at your own house, if they can.

I don't have twins but my youngest alwasy woke during the night. I finally had enough that I had to do CIO.

I would try not to pick them up. Keep laying them down and I had to rub her back, like hold her down, not to hurt her lol, but enough so she knew not to get up. It took a while but it worked.

This is what has been working most of the time with one of my girls. She gets up and we pop her paci back in, lie her down and just keep our hands on her so she feels contact and to prevent her from getting up. My other...uhhh she's been trouble since the womb! LOL. she's not having any of that! LOL

hahahahaha. My oldest just had to scream it out. We were in an apt at the time and my neighbors hated us but I had to do it. I couldn't even go in there. She eventually got it. My younger one I went in and out and did the hold down lol. Finally it worked.

Now my 3rd is on their way so we shall see aht happens. How will this kid be? lol

I thought about the upstairs neighbors but they are the loudest humans I've ever met so I really don't care! Chat Icon

Hopefully #3 will be a piece of cake for you! Chat Icon

Contact Rebecca at sleepcadets.com. She was amazing at helping our then 10month old DD sttn. So glad we called her. She actually has twins herself and is great at working with multiples. Good Luck.

If you're able to male it work, I think getting them to bed earlier is the key. At that age my kids were in bed and sleeping by 7:00. The later they went to bed, the worse they slept. I read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child (or something like that) and it was a game changer. I was missing their cues. At at age, and it's been a while so I might not remember exactly, they should only be up for 1.5-2 hours at a time. The big concept was sleep begets sleep.

Thank you! We've been considering a sleep coach. A friend of mine had one with her 13 month old and it worked wonders for her.

I just purchased the "Sleep, Eat, Activity" guide and schedules. The services are expensive but it this doesn't help, we may have to just suck it up and purchase a package. Thanks again!

Haha. #3 better be a good kid lol. My neighbors were awful and I don't blame them but we had to do it lol. We all needed sleep.

Good luck. I would keep trying all these tricks. Something has to work.

What does a sleep coach charge? When do they come? At bedtime?

Buy the book 12 hours sleep by 12 weeks old. It's not specifically geared towards twins, but they talk about them quite a bit. It saved us! We started it when the twins were around 4 months old. Once we cut out the night bottles it made a world of difference. They both sleep in the same room and my daughter was always the one who would wake up first, but now my son can sleep through anything. I swear that cry it out can work with two. It just takes a little longer to get the full effect. We didn't have them consistently sleeping through the night until 10 months, but following the advice in the book made the night wake ups much quicker and cut them down to only once a night instead of multiple times.

Re: another "desperate for sleep" post

If you have the flexibility to change your hours and get home earlier, I would.

I have 3 kids and all of them did a 6:30pm bedtime at 9 months. Even now my #3 goes to bed around 6:30-7:15 and he's 16 months (depends on how long his nap is).

They are definitely overtired. I know you don't want to, but I would highly suggest CIO. My 1st was a terrible sleeper because my inlaws didn't believe babies had to nap so he was up 5 times a night. It was awful. We did CIO for both naps and nighttime.

Try having them sleep together and definitely use the sound machine. If that doesn't work, pump up the sound machine for 1 and do CIO for the other.

Re: another "desperate for sleep" post

I have a friend with infant twins. She actually co-sleeps with them on the mattress. She told me that they took the box spring off so they only have the mattress. She joked her tall DH slept on the floor but it was actually the truth. She said they were so desperate for sleep and this was what works for them.

Re: another "desperate for sleep" post

My dh and I are not comfortable with CIO. We used a sleep coach who assisted us with gentle sleep methods. She changed our lives, and actually has twins herself so she has experience with that. My DS is now an amazing sleeper. FM me fo details.

Before we implemented this new schedule that I got from Sleep Cadets (started Saturday), we tried and both of them couldn't catch their breath. It was terrible. After 10 mins I went in and picked them up and it took them another 15 mins to calm down and breath normally again. It's torture! LOL

The new schedule has worked amazingly! I had off yesterday and even without DH home, I was able to keep them on the schedule by myself (im super proud because I was so scared I would mess it up). The daytime has some structure now but night time still needs a lot of work. They just want to be held while they sleep all night long. Chat Icon Chat Icon
