Im going to FLA very soon and Aruba in July. I have 2 kids, and cancelling either one of those trips because of Zika never even crossed my mind.

Ok that's what I wanted to know exactly!!!! Thank you

Well that's good!

I just saw something on HLN that pretty much contradicted everything the person on the Today show said this morning

Yeah in cases like this I tend to rely on the CDC and the WHO etc, rather than the media. God knows they hype things up and create a panic more than is necessary.

Re: Are you changing travel plans related to Zika? (Non pregnant people)

I AM planning to have another baby and I am NOT changing my plans. I just have to be careful not to get pregnant until 21 days after my trip.

There is no risk if you are not pregnant or planning to become pregnant. There's a possibility I had Zika in the fall and I'm getting tested. I came back from Cancun and a few days later had a virus with a fever, body aches, and pinkeye. I am not sure about rash becuae I have eczema and allergies and I always have rashes.

Obviously becuase of my profession I follow this all carefully and I hate that due to media hype people in their 60's are canceling trips. If you're pregnant that's another story.

Re: Are you changing travel plans related to Zika? (Non pregnant people)

We are going to Jamaica at the end of April, and I'm going to Florida on May. I didn't think of pika when booking, but I thought of chikunguña (another mosquito virus related) last summer when I went to Colombia with DS. We brought repellents (both spray and bracelets) and we didn't have any problem.

I have to add that DS got dengue when he was 2 in Colombia, but since then he has not gotten anything from mosquitoes every summer that we go there.

I want to share this article DH sent to me when we were talking about Jamaica last night:
https://www.yahoo.com/health/mosquito-repellent-zika-virus-155703890.html

He bought the repelled today on Amazon. We won't cancel the trip, and we hope for the best.
