Meg Ryan for Porter Magazine
Meg Ryan, 54, hits out at those who judge women based on age and appearance - but doesn't address speculation about how she maintains her own 'ageless' complexion Aging can be hard for women — especially in Hollywood, where there's always a new young ingenue coming up to grab the most coveted roles. But Meg Ryan, who just turned 54 in November, isn't fussed about getting older. In fact, the actress told Porter magazine that she's actually quite happy with her years of life experience and how they've made her the person she is today. 'I love my age. I love my life right now. I love what I know about,' she said, also posing for a relaxed photoshoot in which she lounges in jeans on a couch. 'I love the person I’ve become, the one I’ve evolved into. In my life I’ve been scrappy as hell, but I feel easy with things now. I think that comes with age.' That doesn't mean she isn't aware of the pressures on women as they get older — but rather than letting them affect her, she mostly thinks they are a waste of time. 'There are more important conversations than how women look and how they are ageing,' she said. 'We get stuck in these conversations about looks and hair color and our roots. It’s interesting and funny for five minutes, but it’s not that interesting.' Ironically, the When Harry Met Sally favorite's appearance has often come under the microscope. In the past, the actress has been accused of undergoing several cosmetic surgeries, from Botox to face lifts to lip fillers, with many noting that her face has managed to remain remarkably line free over the years — something which most insist could not have been done without the help of plastic surgery. In 2013, fans wondered if she had undergone recent lip injections when she appeared at the Taormina Film Festival 2013, in Sicily, Italy with a Joker-like smile. Others have pointed out the waxy quality of her complexion and the fact that it hasn't seemed to leave a crease over her decades-long career.
