Reaction to DTAP and Polio booster shot at 5 years old?
My daughter's well visit is scheduled for the day before Kindergarten. I am worried that the two boosters will cause her to be cranky or have a fever her first week of school. The doctor said she shouldn't get a reaction, but I just wanted to check to see if anyone's kid had one.

my dd was fine after her 5 yo shots. While getting them was a different story.

My DDs arm was very sore from the 5yo DTAP. I only did that one and she had a very hot red reaction to it, worse than any other vaccine. She complained alot and it looked awful. She never had a reaction to any other vaccines. I would do it a week before school, definitely not the day before K to be honest.
DTAP is intramuscular (longer needle), Polio is SubCutaneous (small needle). My DD got the polio this summer and no reaction to that one.

Polio hardly has any reaction. Dtap has the possibility of gauging soreness and redness at the injection site.

The tetanus part of the dtap will probably cause redness and soreness

My son has a slight fever after that round of shots.. Dr said it is common for a fever after the 5 year DTap... He turned 5 in late October and we went away right after. I held off until we came back...

DS just had his on Tuesday. He is fine. He says his arm is a little sore and there is some redness but other than that he is ok.
