I can honestly say that I've never been "splashed" while peeing. How high is the water level in some of your toilet bowls??

LOL! Whenever we visit my family in the US, DH always makes a comment about the small swimming pools Americans use for toilet bowls...

Always. Every single time. Water is the cheapest utility. 5 people in my house and our water bill is about $40-$50 every three months. I think I can afford that. That's so gross to leave it in there.
I don't think it's about money for most, more about using resources wisely.
I am home by myself all day, and I pee a lot since I drink a lot of water. I flush before my son gets home ;) My toilet doesn't smell, so it's not a big deal at all.

I don't flush every time at night or while DS is sleeping...his bedroom is right next to the bathroom and it will wake him up. Otherwise I flush every time

Yes, I always do but DH does not. Grosses me out. He'll remember to put the seat down but doesn't remember to flush.

We flush right away except for in the middle of the night (to avoid waking DS up) or if DH is going to pee right after me (and then we flush right after he finishes).

I flush and so does DH. DS forgets cause he is running from one thing to the next!
But I just got back from AU and they have the half flush toilets for pee. If one of us were dead set against pee flushing I would be installing the half flush toilets

Yes, but I do have to say, with this pregnancy sometimes I have to pee during the middle of the night and don't flush til morning cause I don't wanna wake up DH with the flushing sound, lol!

What about the people that flush even before they do their business. I noticed some women in my office do this.
I don't understand that one. They're scared that it may hit them and they think their flush of fresh water is better then the previous persons?

Some people are pee shy in public restrooms. Maybe your co-workers do the "flush and pee" so that others don't hear them urinating? However, wouldn't the "flush and pee" cause the toilet water to spray on the bum? I would much rather have someone hear me peeing than my azz being sprayed with germ infested toilet water.

I never intentionally leave it. Idk why but i guess i get distracted and occasionally i forget to flush. My father never flushes pee tho. I don't understand why.

I always do. DH often does not. I'm pregnant, and when I come home to 8-hour-old pee sitting in the toilet, I can smell it from the front door.

Yes flush every time. Dang, people must have some really loud toilets and thin walls. If you close the door and even put the lid down before you flush, I don't see how it will wake people up.

Yes, every time.
I'm usually pretty lax about most things that other people find gross, but this is one i agree with.
My DS bedroom is right on the other side of the bathroom, and we've been flushing in the middle of the night since he was born.
I just think it's easier to always be in the habit of doing it, rather than have to remember to do it some times or not.
The only times i haven't flushed have been if i literally forgot because i got distracted!

So this is a pretty funny post. Growing up without question I flushed every single time.. why the heck wouldn't I!? However, once I started living with DH, I noticed that he wouldn't flush in the middle of the night-- not a pretty sight in the am especially when i was pregnant with morning sickness!! So anyway as both DH and both my kids are light sleepers I too stopped flsuhing in the middle of the night (esp while pregnant and going to te bathroom 10 times a night!). Now, we also have a cesspool issue so we try to be diligent about our water use so I try to "conserve" as much as possible- i.e. i will tell DD not to flush if I am going to the bathroom right after her type of thing-- whereas I would never think about this before and would just mindlessly flush every time.

Yes, but I do work from home often and when I am alone with DH at work I won't flush every time, especially since I am always drinking something so I might go twice in an hour. I feel like it's nice to conserve even a little water.
