Which do you prefer and why? If it makes any difference, outside will take up more inside room on the fridge, inside takes up more room in the freezer. Neither really matters all that much to us because we have a full size backup fridge/freezer in the basement.

We also have two young kids. I've been warned that this can be a problem with outside water/ice dispensers. There is a feature to lock it if this becomes an issue . . .

I say outside only because I would find it annoying to keep opening the fridge. But we use our water dispenser and ice maker (ours is on the outside) A LOT.

I feel like the point of a water dispenser on the fridge is for convenience. It's not really as convenient if I have to open the fridge door every time I want water....in that case I mind as well just keep a pitcher of water in there. I'd rather have it on the front where its easily accessible. Most of them come with locks to prevent children from using them. Plus, they're high enough up that it will be a while before the kids can reach it.

Outside for sure! DS knows not to touch it, but if he does, we'd just lock it.

neither. no water dispenser, it takes up too much space in the fridge. Plus, we don't like cold cold water.

Mine is inside and I don't love it but the fridge was brand new and came with the house so I deal!

Outside. My son learned real fast not to touch it after getting shot in the face a few times

I've had both. I prefer outside.

I dot. Understand the inside ones? Doesn't it waste energy to open the fridge. Plus the more you open and close it I feel
Like my stuff would go bad. The one inside I have experience with also was very slow. Felt like I stood there forever to fill up and glass and I was cold standing inside the fridge lol.
I like the fridge water and want an outside one as I drink a ton. Hopefully
We
Will get one son

Re: Buying new fridge . . . Water dispenser inside door or out?

Thanks everyone. Our current fridge was in our house when we bought it and has the water inside. We drink lots of water, plus I use it for making coffee and sometimes for cooking since it's filtered. I think it's a PITA to have in inside but wasn't sure if I was missing some reason for not having it on the door. The only thing that has made any sense to me is that some people want a streamlined look to the fridge.

We will get the one on the outside, which is what I ultimately wanted. Turns out the fridge we finally decided on doesn't even offer the water inside.

outside, it's easier and efficient than constantly opening the door.
