Explain how to use the cartwheel app
I have tried twice and apparently, I'm doing something wrong! 
I claimed discounts, had them in the my cartwheel section, showed the barcode to the cashier and nothing happened. Both were older and not tech savvy. I didn't want to be rude and make the people behind me wait for a manager, so I left both times.
One told me to use the camera's phone to scan things and it would work.

All you do is add the offer to your cartwheel then the scan the bar coda at the register of your cartwheel.

I've been using the app forever. Yesterday I had a problem at the store with it. No discounts were taken off. I had t go to guest services and they re-rang up my order and added the discounts manually.

I have such a love/hate relationship with that App. It either doesn't work, or there is some weird catch/loophole as to why my coupon isn't valid for the item. I've had to go to guest services more times than I can count to get adjustments, sometimes it's really not worth the discount.

I always add my offers before I go to the store and try to have the app open to my barcode so it's ready to go.
You can also print out your barcode and just carry that with you which is what I did before I had a smartphone.

I've been using it for over a year and never had a problem.
Are you sure you are hitting the "add" button for the item you want to claim?
Aside from that, I can't think of why it wouldn't work. I know you can also use the web version at home and print the barcode to scan at the store.

Thanks for the help. The items are greyed out with a check mark and I'm allowed a few more items. I will try having it ready before I go in.

Are you sure it's not working? The % off is typically very small so you may not notice a difference a lot of times. It also doesn't automatically come off when scanned. The cashier has to hit total.
I usually add items I know I'll be getting before hand and then while walking around in the store, I'll scan barcodes to see if anything else I impulse buy has an offer.

When you go into Target, switch your phone over to WiFi - Target has free Wifi and there is no password needed. Once I started doing that, I never had a problem with the app.

I've been using it since they launched it. Never had an issue. Always save a few bucks per trip but I go through the deals before I leave the house and add when is needed. Also always look under the hot deals collection. That's where the large % off deals are. I got clothes and sheets for 50% off in the past. Many of those deals only last a few days.

They want you to use their WiFi, so they can track you. When I'm near a Target now, the little cartwheel app icon shows up on my iPhone lock screen in the bottom lefthand corner, it's a bit creepy.
