Re: Working in the Third Trimester

I couldn't do it after 37 weeks. Luckily I got my temp trained by then and I work for my dad and uncle, so i was able to just say I am done and didn't have to tell them to far ahead. But I had a 38 week scheduled c-section so I went almost to the end.

I should mention that her foot was jammed under my rib cage. They actually had to unhook it, and now I have to bring her to an orthopedic to look at it because its bent the wrong way. It effected my breathing and made my pregnancy cough worse. So that is really why I couldn't go past 37 weeks. I was so uncomfortable, struggling to breath and in some pain.

I worked until the day before I delivered, but if you have the choice to stop early I would take a week off before hand.

Working in the Third Trimester

I worked until the bitter end with both babies.
It's tough when you don't have paid time and limited maternity leave.

Working in the Third Trimester

With DD I stopped working the Friday before my due date (following Wednesday). DD was then a week late. This time I'm working up until the end.

Re: Working in the Third Trimester

I had a scheduled c section for a Monday. My last day was the Friday before. Worked to the end. Wanted to save as many of my days when for the baby arrived.

Okay this thread has officially made me feel better! I also have limited "maternity leave" (it's actually just banked vacay time and disability) Glad I'm not the only one. Chat Icon

Working in the Third Trimester

I'm a FTM and will be working up until this little lady decides to make her appearance. I have 12 weeks FMLA (7 weeks paid because of saved up PTO) and don't want to waste any of it waiting around. Somtimes I wish I was taking a week or two before EDD just to properly "nest" and get all my ducks in a row at home, but can't have it both ways...

Last time I worked until 40w 4d. Left work to go to drs appt and was sent to hospital for induction.

This time I will be having a scheduled c section and I plan to work through the day before my section.

I have to use so much sick and vacation for maternity leave so I am not willing to use or waste a single hour before!

Re: Working in the Third Trimester

I worked past my due date with #1 and up until I gave birth with #2.

(I have a job that is about 50% in an office and 50% out of the office and on my feet. I also did not have a long commute)

Working until the very end- hoping to anyway. I'm almost 38 weeks right now and I still kinda need to be in the office. Maybe if I go past my due date I'll start working from home but we'll see....

Re: Working in the Third Trimester

I worked till my due date with my last DS @ 40 weeks and am 35 weeks now planning on doing the same. I'm not going to sugar coat it, my job and being pregnant stinks at the end. i come home and cry some days because I am so sore or feel so exhausted at work. I still crawl all over the floor, draw blood in weird positions and do surgeries. Sometimes clients look pretty dubious about me trying to work with their 100# Rotties (sometimes I agree) but I get zero maternity leave and "may or may not have a job when I get back" thanks to being a very small business that doesn't really have to follow ay regulations. I am taking 12 week unpaid and need that to be all with the baby if possible.

I worked until the day I was induced with DD1. With DD2 I worked until the day after her due date (which was a Friday) and she was born on Monday. Hope to work right up to the end with DC3 as well.

I worked a week past my due date with DS. We lived in the city and my commute was easy so not a big deal.

This time my commute is longer so I am not sure, I plan to work until I deliver but I will see how that goes!

Re: Working in the Third Trimester

with my second I worked right up through the first day of 39 weeks, came home, and went with dh that same night to hospital for scheduled induction....

this time I have been more tired and work stressed, so I am going on leave at 38 weeks, to rest up one week before induction.

Re: Working in the Third Trimester

I worked until 39w1d. I probably could have gone to my due date but driving had become an issue. My 38th week I backed up into a telephone poll and almost side swiped a car (2 separate incidents) because I couldn't lean forward or turn back enough to see things. So, my last week was spent with my feet up, relaxing, and catching up on series I had missed throughout the year.

Working in the Third Trimester

I have only two weeks vacation and 3-5 sick days - I need to go up to the last minute. I'm not sure if they'll give me the option of working from home since no one does. It's going to suck not taking any time the entire summer.
I still haven't even told them I'm pregnant.
Luckily I have about a 30 minute drive - at least the summer will be easy then I have a few weeks once school starts. I just need to keep calm.

Re: Working in the Third Trimester

I worked until the day I went into labor 39 weeks 4 days. I thought I was having Braxton hicks so I went in. Then I realized they were pretty consistent. I left work at 10 and had DS that afternoon.

Re: Working in the Third Trimester

I was 35w3d when my doctor sent me to the hospital for evaluation for PE, ended up being induced.... I was at work that day, didn't go back. Wish I had stopped working at 34 weeks, I think that the stress of it all contributed to the severity of the hypertension (never actually developed into PE, all tests came back normal, I ONLY had the hypertension).

Re: Working in the Third Trimester

I worked the morning of my scheduled cesarean Chat Icon

I attended an afternoon press conference about five days prior to that when I had just had an amnio performed that morning. The County Exec wanted to KILL me. We still joke about that.

But, everyone is different. I was fine to work right up until an hour before he was born. But some people might not be able to do that. You go by what your doc says, by how you feel, and do what's best for you and baby! Chat Icon

Re: Working in the Third Trimester

I have a long commute (almost 1.5 hours each way) and i have a scheduled c-section at 39w1d. I stopped work this time at 37 weeks bc my dr didn't want me commuting anymore.. First time around I stopped at 38 weeks, but was 2 full weeks late. TORTURE being home for a month with nothing to do except answer questions from everyone asking where the baby was...lol Chat Icon

I worked until the very end with ds.

With this one, I have a much longer commute but I'm due the week school ends, so hopefully I can hold out.
