breast milk - what to do with it?

I probably have 250+ ounces of frozen breast milk...what can i do with it? I know people say to donate it but does anyone have experience as to where to donate it?
Someone suggested I give it to my 18mo instead of whole milk...would there be any benefit to giving that over whole milk?? It seems odd for me to offer it to her considering she had been off breastmilk for 8+ months

Why don't you want to keep it? I stopped pumping at 10 months and used my freezer stash.

with flu season coming up, I'd use it with your 18 month old... But I thought it was only good in the freezer for 6 months, deep freezer I think was longer

DS has a milk protein allergy but it wasnt diagnosed until recently so all the milk i pumped is when I was eating dairy. I dont want to give it to him and chance it make him sick

Got it. There is a chance he will outgrow it, right? But I understand not wanting it in your freezer!

I would try reaching out to LLL and see if they can recommend a place to donate.

I would definitely offer some to your DS for this very reason.

I just mixed breastmilk into my 3 year olds chocolate milk. We've all been sick and my 6 month old and I are better alrwady, while she is still coughing/congested. It can't hurt and maybe she'll get some extra antibodies. I'd definitely find ways to get your 18 month old to ingest it.

I also BFd until she was 2...there are definitely still benefits for toddlers. You can google them.

My toddler DS never BF as a baby, but now I'm BFing with my DD. With cold/flu season here, I've been mixing some of my pumped milk into his whole milk. Not sure if it works, but its worth a try and definitely can't hurt him!

Check out Human Milk for Human Babies on FB. They put moms who can donate in contact with moms in need locally.

Re: breast milk - what to do with it?

There is a mom in a FB group that has a terminally ill child who needs breastmilk. There are also lots of people who are in need of donor milk. I have donated in the past. PM me if you can't find anyone. :D
