If you have Empire NYSHIP....
Did you have to pay any hospital bills when you gave birth? We are considering switching back and it says no copayment for delivery. Just wondering if there are other payments that sneak in?

I just called to see what charges to expect and they told me there would be nothing out of pocket.
I will see if that's true in a few weeks.

now did they tell you that you have to call once you have the baby to let them know?
the lady told me i had to do that but i never had to do that in my past 2 deliveries. So i'm hoping she was new and didn't know what she was talking about.

If you have Empire NYSHIP....
I have that plan and did not pay anything. The hospital called the insurance company when I had my girls. One of my girls was in the NICU for 4 nights the bill was $35,000 and I had to pay $0. Its a great plan.

The only out of pocket expense I had was for a private room (that I requested). I ended up getting sent checks from Empire for the anesthisiologist that I just had to endorse over to them. No other cost to me.

No, I didn't. Just the anesthesiologist, like someone mentioned. They tried charging for OON services, but I was like "um, no sorry, I did it in NSUH and I wasn;'t given a choice soooooo......." They dropped the charges.

I had DD in May. I have a deductible but they said l&d isn't subject to the deductible.. months later and still no bills . yay :)

I have that insurance as well and i have done this twice already. Very easy save your explanation of benefits when they come in. If anyone billsbyou at all you make a photo copy of the explanation of benefits and send that in with the bill. Sometimes hospitals bill faster than thebinsurance companies process claims no big deal dont stress over.
