Birthday Party Dilemma - WWYD

For my one DC's birthday this year, we are having it at the Ducks game with their Birthday party package.

The cost of the package includes 10 party tickets (game, food, souvenir)

With siblings/cousins, that leaves room for DC to pick 4 friends to bring (they are all 7/8ish years old)

Above that 10, there is the option to purchase additional regular game tickets or full party tickets for them. We would not have additional children, so we would need extra regular game tickets just for adults.

With that said, the additional people would be:
DH & I
My sister and her DH (has 2 kids attending, included in the 10 party tickets)
DH sister and her DH (has 2 kids attending included in the 10 party tickets)
My parents
DH parents
Parents of 4 children attending

With that said, that is 14 additional tickets plus we have to feed these people and stadium food is EXPENSIVE. That ADDS up.

So, my question is....as a parent of a child attending, would you be OK if:
a) we offered to drive the 4 kids there with my DC, no parents (I should add, we live about a 10 minute drive to the stadium, all side roads (no parkways, LIE)
b) we picked a meeting point outside the stadium and parents could drop off and we take the kids in and parents could pick up after game (we would wait there until all kids arrived and go in together)
c) We let them know of the option to purchase a regular game ticket ($11) and do the drop off but letting them know they are more than welcome to purchase a game ticket and come in if they are more comfortable with that.

As a parent of a child attending, what would you like to be given as an option?

As for family...Would you pay for your parents as well? They dont really HAVE to go, but I feel like I should extend the invite and then if I do, I should pay.....or should I just not invite them since its not really an open party place?

I would be okay with DS' friends' parents driving him to a game. I would not want to drop off and pick up at the stadium.

What if you offered to buy tickets for just one parent of DS' friends? Would it still be very expensive?

I would be ok with my child going without me. I like the option A.
My preference would be to drop off at your house and then you would drop off when done, because with traffic and delays, home time could vary.

If they are 7/8 I think its totally fine to do a drop off at your house.

We are having DS party at the Ducks game too. We are having 10 children, DH and I and my dad (13 total). All of the kids are meeting at my house prior to the game and we have two cars driving them all to the game. We will drive the boys home after the game.
None of the parents are coming.
But, we only invited boys that we are friendly with the parents.

If I did not know the parents, I would not be comfortable sending DS without one of us.

We are friendly with the parents of the kids who are invited, frequent playdates etc (all our kids were in daycare together as infants and have just been in the same class ever since, the other is our next door neighbor)

I would probably be ok with you driving my child but I think there are plenty of parents out there that might not so I would give the option of the others and let the parent decide

What if I say something like:

Your DC is invited to attend, blah, blah, blah. We will arrange a drop off time at our home and we will drive the children to the game in our car. If you are not comfortable with that, please let us know. We would be more than happy to arrange to have a game ticket for you for $11 if you would prefer to drive them yourselves and stay for the game.

Re: Birthday Party Dilemma - WWYD

I think what you posted above is perfect.

I did want to bring up another point though - we went to a game two weeks ago - we sat right behind the Duck's dugout. One of the players hit a line drive foul ball that missed my daughter's face by literally inches. It flew through her hair (by her neck), hit the seat and bounced off and hit her in the head. Thankfully, other than being scared and her ear hurting a little bit where it hit, she was okay. It definitely could have been MUCH worse.

I don't mean to be a "debbie downer" but I never even considered that when we went to the game. Please be careful of where you are seated - apparently where we were is where most of the foul balls go. Additionally, have the adults sit in front of the kids if you can. We had the kids in front of us so they could see better, but we couldn't protect them.

Our game got rained out, so we get to go back and this time I am going to make sure we are behind the nets.

I think this is fine.

It give the parents the option and truthfully at that age I'd love a few hrs away but I know some parents are not that comfortable so it gives them the option. As a parent would actually thank you for the option!
