Fear of Ice Cream Truck
My DD who will be 4 in Sept is all of a sudden scared of the ice cream truck. Every other kid runs towards it but not mine. Its only when the music plays like Mr. Softee. Yesterday it came down my parents house and she flipped. she literally has a crying fit and hugs me and doesn't let go.
Should I be concerned? or is this just another crazy phase? Is my kid the only one???

DS1 has a fear of any dolls or stuffed animals that sings and dances. He always used to unwrap gifts cautiously. He also doesn't like cards that play music.
He does have some sensory issues, but I wouldn't think this fear your DD has is an issue unless you see it's a big occurrence with lots of things. I know kids afraid of the vacuum, firetrucks, etc... none of them have any other issues. Keep an eye on it if other fears occur. Good thing is it's seasonal.

My DS was afraid of it last summer when he was 2. He's been fine so far this summer. I think it's just a phase.

Then every time you hear the truck, you will be like me...

It might be because its loud. Does she k ow ice cream comes from the truck? Let her know its a good thing. A very good thing. My kids are too little to run for the ice cream man but DH sure do. Lol

Definitely take advantage - my Ds isn't a huge ice cream kid but, he loves to buy ice cream from the truck (I only let him do it when my father or father in law are around because they will eat it and I won't have to). Thankfully they haven't been around our neighborhood yet this year.

Fear of Ice Cream Truck
My dd is 1 and was petrified of the ice cream truck for the first few weeks that it started coming around this season. As soon as she'd hear the music in the distance she would run to us sobbing. We bought her ice cream from the truck a couple times to let she see what it's all about. And on the days we don't buy her ice cream we danced with her to the music and tried to get her to wave to the truck. I think she's over it now. I did wonder if it might have been because the music is kind of high pitched and maybe it hurt her ears?
