tinea versicolor

So this is 3 years in a row I have gotten it. Derm gave me an antifungal cream. She said some people are just predisposed to it. Anyone else ever get this and have tips to help keep it away?? Ty!

Re: tinea versicolor

Im actually on meds right now to get rid of it on my neck.

Do you have any other skin issues? I also have psoriasis and from what I have read, it is also a fungus and can be cause by overgrowth of yeast in the body.

I plan to start taking a probiotic and eat a paleo diet (yeast feeds off sugars and carbohydrates).

Re: tinea versicolor

Sorry, sometimes when I type from my phone I get lazy and don't accurately phrase things Chat Icon yes, I'm using a topical cream, not an oral medicine.

I have read that tea tee oil can help with tinea versicolor, but haven't tried it.

For me, I think the psoriasis and tinea versicolor are interrelated: gut imbalance and overgrowth of yeast inside the body.

My psoriasis is currently not active through diet (I'm about 90% paleo). I noticed when I eat a lot of sugar, flour products and foods with yeasts, it flares up.

My functional doctor (who is an MD) suggested I take a high billion probiotic to help heal my gut in addition to an anti-inflammatory diet (ie. Paleo). Everyone is different, but it may help you with your skin issues.

I know that was way more than you asked for, but I truly believe in finding the root cause to conditions, not just masking the symptoms. Chat Icon
