Birthing balls **Update with another question**

Where do you get them? Are they the same as exercise balls? How do you know what size to get?

TIA

** I found one at Walmart for $18 - now what do I do with itChat Icon I heard its good for opening up the pelvic area to help the baby drop - I am 40w2d and trying for Vbac - they are only gonna give me about another week or so and then either induction or another c/s - neither of which I want. So far at the last apt im 2cm and 50%eff but the baby is still very high so hoping to fiind some way to help things along

Birthing balls

It's the same as an exercise ball. Go to a sporting goods store and see which size you want.

Birthing balls

I ordered a regular yoga ball from Amazon. Helped sooo much with RLS and sciatica.

i just sat on it while watching tv - didnt help dd drop though...or help get her out any quicker. i bounced on it, rolled around on it...but nothing helped.
she came 8 days late and was so high my doctor told me it would be a waste to push (i was 10cm and fully effaced, water broke etc) so she sat me up for over an hour until DD decided to drop

for me it was a comfort thing - i couldnt sit on our couch comfortably

eta - you can also bring it to the hospital and use it to lean fwd on while in labor

I sat on mine towards the end to watch tv. It was more comfortable. Dd was very low and I had a relatively easy delivery despite being induced.

You can try the usual wives tales. Walking, sex, spicy food, eggplant.

Dd was very high. I sat on it pretty much for 2 days straight. My water broke I continued sitting on it. It was much more comfortable than any other position. I brought it to the hospital and sat on it until I got my epi. I pushed it up against the hospital bed. I sat on the ball and leaned my head on the bed. Not sure how I would have made it without it. We still had to wait for my dd to drop before I pushed but it made waiting for the epi manageable.

Birthing balls **Update with another question**

See if they will strip your membranes. I had mine stripped last Thursday at 9:30 am and was in labor and delivery by Friday at 12:45 pm. I ran througout my pregnancy and he had been at station zero since 38 weeks. I definitely think walking helps. At the time of membrane stripping I was 60% effaced and 3.5-4 cm. I

I used the birthing balls during both of my labors. The pressure made me more comfortable during contractions. GL!
