2 yr old screaming & crying @ naps/bedtime

My son is screaming & crying in his crib for naps and bedtime all of a sudden. He is getting over an ear infection, cough & cold. As soon as I hold him he stops. I think it's just he wants me so I am letting him cry it out but it's hard. He just went in for a nap at 12:30 and now it's 1pm & he finally stopped crying. I feel guilty having him cry so long but I can't hold him all the time & he can't sleep in our bed. He has a humidifier, music plays gor about 20 mins & a dreamlight. Any other suggestions? By this age my daughter gave her maps up so I didn't have this problem. He likes his naps so this is odd.

My ds goes through periods where he is scared. Of what I have no clue but he tells me scared. I just talk to him and calm him down and he falls asleep shortly after.
