loose tooth question
My son's tooth has been loose for a while now (over a month). He started complaining that it hurts and now it is moved backwards and can't come forward. Is this typical or should I take him to the dentist? This is the first loose tooth!

I would take him to the dentist. My son's first loose tooth came out this week. He could wiggle it to a 50 degree angle. I kept checking to see if the new tooth was breaking through the gums. Once it had, I applied oragel and waited a few minutes. I had his sister hold his hand and I told her when I said 3 (I did not count) she squeezed his hand and said boo to distract him. I used a sterile q-tip to knock the baby tooth out. If I could not get it out that way, I would have taken him to the dentist. Since your DCs tooth is stuck, yes, I would go to the dentist to remove it otherwise the new tooth could have problems.

My DD has teeth that are loose for months before they fall out. Seems totally normal in our case.

loose tooth question
My kids teeth seem to take forever to fall out, my 6 year old just lost one that was loose since Christmas!
How is the tooth stuck? Is it just pushed behind a tooth? Can you gently wiggle it free?
If you're really worried and he's in pain, def. call dentist...

If the baby tooth is not out before the new tooth starts to grow in the new tooth can grow into the wrong spot. It can grow in turned. I had this experience, I don't want my kids having it too. My son's tooth was hanging by a thread. I would not do this for a non-moving tooth. I would go to the doctor's office.

Wow that was quick!
My DD had her bottom two loose from the end of July and didn't lose them until end of Oct, and the other beginning of Nov. She had a dentist appt beginning of Dec and her said top two were loose and wouldn't be surprised if they didn't come out until spring. He said it is not unusual to have loose the etch for months. Some just lose them faster than others.

My D just lost her 2nd one last night. Loose & wiggly for abt 6 weeks. I wouldt worry. Not sure sbt the theory of perm tooth problems if baby tooth in way bc my D perm tooth was right there when she lust her baby tooth (she is 6)

my dd's front top tooth has been loose for two months. It actually has shifted quite a bit, but still hasn't come out.
I didn't realize that it was normal to be loose for so long until I read this thread, I was really starting to worry!

Congrats! My son can't wait for a tooth to come out.
BTW - my older son's teeth take 3-6 months plus to fall out from first notice the wiggling! It is crazy! Only once did we need to have dentist intervention. The tooth behind it was fully in and the loose one seemed to be getting tighter instead of looser. My son is nuts though - they will be hanging by a thread and he won't let anyone pull it!
