Moms of Girls - Clothing Q
Do you shop mostly for girl outfits? Or do you pick stuff from both sections? My DD has very little hair but I think the boy stuff is sometimes cuter than the girl stuff and so I buy what I like. Also, the boy aisle seems to have more colors to pick from - not that I don't like pink and purple, just that I enjoy some variety.

I can honestly say I've never done that and it never even entered my mind. I have a son as well and his clothes are totally not unisex. Hey, but if you like boys' stuff too...go for it!

I buy stuff from the boy section on occasion. I like her in girly things, but I also sometimes like her in simpler, more unisex clothing. A lot of the boy stuff just looks unisex to me.

I have never bought from the boys section but if that's what you like then go for it.
My dd has little hair at 3 so for me the more Girly the clothes are the better

I have 2 girls. I have bought them shirts from the boys section. Mostly holiday shirts. Or the rare superhero shirt. I'm not completely against shopping in the boys section.

When she was an infant, yes I did. I think at that age, a lot of the "boy" stuff is gender neutral. I was team green, so a lot of the clothes that were purchased for her before she was born came from the boy section. Green and yellow and frogs and ducks can only take you so far! On the boys side, there's shades of brown, grey, all of the primary colors, monkeys and dogs and other fun animals ....why not? Much easier to find gender neutral in the boys section, that's for sure!

I have never shopped in the boy section for my DD but I love all things girly and I actually find shopping for my son not as fun. But hey dress your kid however you want, why not?!

I.bought a sweater once and a few t shirts from the boys section cause it appeared pretty unisex to me but otherwise not really. I find boy stuff boring lol i love the girl stuff and i dont think i own 1 pink shirt so im not sure where you shop that they only sell pink and purple. Lol
Im not into cutesy frilly ruffles and lace and tutus and girly stuff but im not that into boy stuff...

I have bought shirts fom the boys section, one of my twins who are 3 1/2 loves monsters inc, she was into curious gorge, cars ans such and its hard to find them in the girls section

I only bought character boys shirts bc they didn't have it for girls. Otherwise I only shop in girls.

I have two girls and have never even looked into the boy section for clothing for them but I love all things pink and frilly and girly! My girls want to wear dresses almost everyday so I don't think they would be happy with boy clothes.

My friend dresses her DD in a lot of boy things. She isn't a pink person herself, so it makes sense. Her DD always looks adorable, and she often pairs a unisex looking top with a skirt or leggings and throws a big bow on her head so it looks very feminine. I say go for it if that's what you like!

Let's take Carter's for example - I wanted to get one of those 3 sets of pants and the girls side has white/purple and polka dots as a set, and the boys side has black, grey and navy blue. I just find that way easier to mix and match with different shirts. Also - when you walk into that store - the girl side is so much brighter - seems so neon to me which I'm not crazy about.
For higher end stuff though - I see the same thing. My DD is not walking yet and so dresses drive her crazy - she is bear walking across the room because a dress is tough to crawl in. She had a lovely Christmas dress that I kept her in for about 2 hours. I found some super cute red corduroy overalls with embroidered gingerbread men on them. These were in the boy section. I'm not sure why - but it just seems like there is so much more variety when you can shop in the whole store. I do find that the "boy" items run a little larger though.
I am actually a little surprised by how many have said they have never even considered it. I get that some people like the frilly/girly look - and I like that from time to time, too.
I guess I find it a bit frustrating that butterflies are for girl shirts and monkeys are for boy shirts (unless of course the monkey has a pink outfit on or a bow). Who decides this stuff?
I imagine when my DD is a little older - she will care about what is picked and that will strongly influence the choices.

I have never shopped in the boys section for DD we were tempted once to buy her warmer pants at Carters but then they didn't have her size.
I do know what you mean about color schemes sometimes but if i dont like what the girl stuff is at a particular store then i dont buy anything there.

Only from the girl section.
I couldn't wait to have a girl to dress her up all cute and girly.
To me, girl's clothes are so much fun and so cute.
But I am a very girly girl myself.
And now that DD is older, she is ALLLLL girl.
No way would she wear any boy clothes.

I did thinking I'd have a boy one day (which happened!) I think after 18months all of DD's PJs were boy PJs. I also would buy her boy long sleeve shirts here and there (Boys shirts would say cool things like "future astronaut" and girls were always "Daddy's Princess", better aspirations for the boys!)
It's all paying off now that I have some clothes for DS!

I've bought from both. Mostly girl clothes, but for things like superheroes, sports teams, space, dinosaurs, etc., you're not going to find as much in the girls' section.

I understand what you mean. I would much rather black and navy pants to white and purple! I've gotten DD a few sweatshirts from the boys' section bc I like the grey and navy and they were a good deal at the time. She also has a few blue sleep sacks bc the neutral colors are sometimes hard to come by and I'd rather not have to buy new ones if we have a boy some day. I love a lot of the girls' stuff that's out there but I'm not too into the frills and also stay away from princesses, fairies, shoes, etc on her shirts.

When my DD was born - she weighed less than 4 lbs. It was so hard to find preemie outfits - so we bought everything they had - pink/blue - just to have options. I guess some of it stems from that.

I also had a son first so DD did have some of DS green and yellow items. If you have not found them yet I think you would like the tea collection and hannah anderson as they have some nicer gender neutral items. I personally only shopped for DD in the girls section but she does get some hand me downs from her brother (like black snow pants).
