Who stayed in Disney OFF property?

Could you please recommend a hotel? Something simple with pool and maybe even kitchenette!

I saw a post with recomendations just the other day but can't find it now!

A lot of the timeshares can be booked on expedia if you're not an owner.

Re: Who stayed in Disney OFF property?

we stayed at renunion resorts. It was a 3 bedroom condo. It has a pool and a water park. It was cheaper than a disney hotel, but downside is that you have to rent a car and drive to parks.
For us it worked out better, I have a son with Autism and likes his space.
It had a full kitchen, so we went to the store and bought our own food and ate breakfeast and dinner at the condo, and brought our own lunch to the parks.
It had a washer and dryer, so I didnt pack clothes for the whole week. The water park is amazing!!!

Wyndham Bonnet Creek is a timeshare and gets great reviews and is within the Disney confines (but you don't get the Disney perks). You can find rentals for $100 a night on various sites on the internet and sometimes ebay.

This rental site has a good reputation on Disboards. http://www.bonnetcreekvacationrentals.com/

BUT you will need to rent a car staying off site. Many of the shuttles leave at weird times, often having their last run before the parks even close.

We have stayed at Residence Inn Lake Buena Vista. Very close to Downtown Disney. Free buffet breakfast with Mickey waffles, nice rooms. We had a family suite with a cute kids area. But....we stayed free on points. I don't know if I would pay to stay there since the pool wasn't fab. We have also stayed at Marriott Harbour Lakes a couple of times. It's a Marriott timeshare. SUPER fun grounds with a great pool.

There is also Vistana Resort. DH and I have stayed at both. Time share units of differnt sizes, all with kitchens and washer/dryers. Convenient to all the resorts, restaurants and Publix supermarkets.

Look at Redweek.com for timeshare rentals in the area.

We have a Wyndham timeshare, we haven't stayed at Bonnet Creek yet but have heard great things. The last time we were in Orlando we stayed in Wyndham Cypress Palms. It is in Kissimmee and not too far from the parks. We really enjoyed our stay there and the rooms were great as well.

We once stated here Tropical Palms Resort and Campground. They have little cottages with kitchens. Its right in the Old Towne Kissimmee area where there are rides, shops ect. it was like 10-15 away from Disney.

Re: Who stayed in Disney OFF property?

Marriot Grande Vista and Sheraton Vistana both were three bedrooms (I am pretty sure). Great rooms and terrific grounds/pools. Both had a bar right by the zero entry pool Chat Icon The Marriot had small 'kiddie" pool, which was great the first year (my ds was not yet 2 and my dds were 3.5)

Would recommend both...but we had a car.

Re: Who stayed in Disney OFF property?

We stayed at the Homewood Suites on International Drive the last time we went. Can't beat having a suite with kitchen when you are travelling with kids. I wasn't crazy about our room (on first floor by door and it was smaller than typical for HS), but my family (we had two other rooms) had perfectly find rooms.

This time we are doing staying at the Doubletree by downtown Disney.

We rented a house about 15 minutes away from Disney which had 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, an enclosed in ground pool with Jacuzzi and full kitchen for less than the amount of a hotel room. FM me if you'd like the name of the property management we used

Re: Who stayed in Disney OFF property?

I have heard good things about bonnet creek also people seem to like the Sheraton vistiana. Check mousesavers.com they have codes for off site discounts and will give you the scoop on the various places. One word of caution. I could be mixing you up...do you drive? If you stay off site you will need a car. Off site transportation is very unreliable. Also just a note parking at the parks if you are off site is $14 or $15 a day.

One additional thing. They seem to be removing the FP machines. Off site guests can only reserve the three FP+ a day the day of. On site guests can reserve 60 days out. Not sure if this will change or how it will effect off site guests in the future but it might be hard to get what you want...time will tell.

Re: Who stayed in Disney OFF property?

We stayed at Sheraton vistana and the kitchen/washer dryer in unit was very convenient. they also had a great pirate ship water attraction. the boys loved it.

I thought reunion looked nice. pretty sure we stayed at Sheraton for free using points. if we were paying, we probably would have chosen reunion for off site.

Re: Who stayed in Disney OFF property?

Another vote for Sheraton Vistana!

Loved the washer/dryer in room plus full kitchen.

Plus, the drive down the street to the entrance to WDW was unbeatable!
