sleep advice please

DD is 5 weeks.
She will have a bottle of BMat between 8 and 9 then sleep to 12 or 1.

Then, she is up every single hour until 7. I can't feed her every time of course so I am usually just rocking her to sleep but she then sleeps less than an hour.

Yesterday, I fed her every 2 hours during the day and will try it for a few more days but I ended up feeding her 10 ounces more than normal so I don't know if that's a good idea.

Any advice on how to.get DD to stay asleep? I elevated the bassinet mattress on one side and just started using a white noise machine.

Thanks!

Pretty typical for 5 weeks old. As babies get older, they naturally consolidate sleep more overnight. Have you considered letting her sleep in the swing overnight? That helped us immensely.

Also, feeding every 2 hours during the day is a lot! Was she hungry that often? DS naturally went 3 to 3.5 hours during the day. At night I'd usually get a 4 or 5 hour stretch and then 3 hour intervals at that age. It's tough, but it does get better and they do eventually sleep! But I wouldn't do 2 hours during the day b/c I think that's going to drive you insane.

Could she be cold? Just want the closeness of mom?

Do you use a pacifier?

Could be a growth spurt and she needs more to eat. I also agree with white noise. Does she like to be swaddled? I thought DS hated it, but tried again out of desperation around that age and it helped so much!

I will Google this but funny you should mention reflux bc my friend asked the same question. She does not spit up or anything, she sleeps like a champ upright but when she lays flat she "gurgles" until she falls into a deep sleep.sometimes for hours so I will look into.this.

Also going to try a different pacifier.

Thanks for the responses!

I 5 weeks I would just go with it. They are really too young to change their schedule much. They figure it out. Hang in there.

Maybe she is not getting filled up. If she is drinking the bottle dry, start increasing. A full belly will sleep

Re: sleep advice please

At that age my DS nursed every 2 hours while awake, sometimes more often, especially in the evening hours. Part of it could be waking to consume more calories that they need. I would also try the swaddle. They initially hate it but it works. Also, my DS' naps were all over the place and I think he was overtired. At 6 weeks I started putting him down every 90 minutes and it worked like a charm and still does at 11 weeks.
