How's everyone doing so far this year?
I'm in NYC and I honestly feel brand new. So overwhelmed, so disenchanted, and like I will never catch up on what I need to do.

So discouraged... The new math is so wordy that my ESL kids( who usually had math as a strength) are failing and my weak readers are struggling. Can no child succeed anywhere?

How's everyone doing so far this year?
I have been teaching for eight years. I feel like they ask for more and we have less time to do it all. Also, why would they give us a new contract I they are forcing us to do more with the new evaluation system. We got screwed.

How's everyone doing so far this year?
I have been teaching for 16 years- started young. I have never in my career felt like this before. The testing, the APPR, every little thing I do tied to Danielson, the common core... I can go on and on. It's sucking the life out of me and so many other teachers. I have the special needs class this year- most districts call it inclusion. Four kids reading on first grade level. How am I supposed to get them to pass a common core test? Not fair to them. Then for me to get evaluated on them failing? The system is broken and needs to be fixed by someone who actually knows education.

I am glad I am not the only one feeling this way. I am in a in a self contained class and my principal and district expect the same from my students as the mainstream. As for the stress, its there and its is terrible. It is not fun teaching anymore.

Frustrated....and I teach kindergarten. It's so unfair what is being asked of these kids. We have recess but have taken away free play all together. When they need t learn how to socialize and what the letters are, they are learning about ten frames. Common core is supposed to get kids college ready.....it's gonna turn kids off from wanting to learn altogether. I don't even know how you upper grade teachers are doing it........
