Kitchen help
THe kitchen isnt big so we were thinking about breaking the wall from the kitchen to dining and doing something like this on top of a bar stool seating...how do you guys feel about this? Also if I wanted to google more ideas like this what would you consider this concept??

Our coop had a setup like this as we loved it, the wall was removed and we created an island with two stools, we could have fit 3 or 4 but there are only 2 of us and our DS who is in a highchair. It maximized the space of our kitchen as the island served as prep area for cooking and also the kitchen table. We ate at the dining room table when we had guests.

Kitchen help
We just knocked down the wall between kitchen and dining room and redid our entire floor with gorgeous tile. I am so glad we did it! We are waiting a little bit to finish up (replacing the cabinets, doing some re-wiring to clean up the old electrical work, etc.) but we are doing something similar - we have a teeny tiny kitchen area so we are adding a peninsula to divide the two rooms, add more counter space and add more cabinets. I am so excited to have it done, but even as is right now it makes such a difference I am so glad we did it!

I had a peninsula like that and actually got rid of it when I remodeled my kitchen. I didn't like how it impeded the flow into and out of the kitchen. I do think taking the wall out is a good option if it's not load-bearing.

A lot of clients are doing this as the kitchen is truly the most important "lived in" room in the home. You can see a lot of photos showcasing this concept on our . website and blog

I would leave it open unless you really need storage area. We did this before we even moved in. I havn't gotten around to doing newer pictures but it was the best thing we did. Old kitchen = small.

I would not do the glass cabinets above. This is a very dated look and will close off your room making it appear smaller than it really is.
