Re: did my coconut oil melt?
I had mine in one of my kitchen cabinets in the middle of one of those really hot weeks during the summer. We don't have central A/C and the same thing happened.
I put it in the fridge for a few hours and it went back to normal.

Re: did my coconut oil melt?
It melts at 74 degrees. It doesn't matter if its liquid or not. Obviously harder to apply but doesn't go bad.

Can I ask what you use coconut oil for? I always see it at Trader Joe's and wonder!

Re: did my coconut oil melt?
I use it in cooking (basically most foods I would cook in oil, especially a lot of "Asian" style meals) and in my hair/on my skin.
I keep a jar in the kitchen and one in the shower.
The Trader Joe's brand, I've even tasted off the spoon and it's yummy!

I use it for cooking. I use it in my hair and on my skin. Any skin condition, i use it - mosquito bites, rashes, ringworm, diaper rash, etc.

I use it to shave, to mositurize my feet- it's great on calluses and super dry skin. I don't use it in my hair because my hair is too fine and soft to begin with but i hear it's great if you have medium to thick or coarse hair as a weekly treatment. I don't eat it- I worry about the levels of saturated fat in it - I read the label and almost passed out. I know they say it's a good fat, etc- but I just don't feel comfy with that level of saturated fat. And when I see how it hardens- unlike olive oil which never hardens- I wonder- is it doing that in my arteries too?

Just so you know, it will never harden unless your body temp gets below 74 degrees which would mean you are dead. So definitely don't worry about your arteries.

I know, I know. I just think of the saturated fat content and I think of how olive oil doesn't harden when it's cool and I am like hmmmm. Silly I know!

Re: did my coconut oil melt?
I just recently have been hearing a lot about coconut oil for beauty care & asked on H&B. I'm glad to see others are using it & liking it.
I didn't realize it's a solid, not liquid?

When it's super hot out it turns liquid- but generally it has the consistancy of Crisco. You can warm it in your hands to melt it for use as a mositurizer etc

did my coconut oil melt?
One day I used it before shampooing. Big mistake.
Then last night gave it a whirl. Slept with it in. Washed a few times this morning and like the results.
My hair is quite long and thin but dry.
