Changing table - until when?

When did you stop changing your baby on the changing table? DD is almost 8 mos. and refuses to stay on her back. It has become a wrestling match on a space less than 2 feet wide. Where did you start changing them if you moved on from the changing table?

Changing table - until when?

My daughter is almost 2 and I still use the changing table. There was a period of a few months where she hated being changed, I think it was right before she turned 1. She outgrew that phase though and now she is fine. I think it is just that age where they don't like to be changed.

Re: Changing table - until when?

It is a phase... We went through it here too.. It lasted a couple of months... We just stopped using it about 4 months ago. DS was almost 3.5 years old at that point... I still have it and I use it for his clothes and toys.

Re: Changing table - until when?

I used it til DD was no longer in diapers; shortly after 3 yrs old.

ETA: DD#2 is still in diapers at 4 (develomentally delayed) and I still change & dress her on the changing table. She is the size of a typical 4 year old.

I just recently moved DD's changing pad to the floor at 9 months old because she was rolling and trying to crawl away. It's still a wrestling match changing her in the floor but at least I don't have to worry about her falling.

DS has been rolling over on the changing table for months. I give him a toy to hold that distracts him so he doesn't roll. Or I sing to him.

My DD just turned 2 last month and i still use the changing table for her first diaper change in the morning after i take her out of the crib. The rest of the day i just change her on the floor or bed.

Re: Changing table - until when?

we use the table when we wake her up in the morning or after naps. But downstairs I tend to change her on the floor.

I have used the straps to prevent her from rolling and also give her a toy. I have a little fabric crinkle book that she loves to look through while I change her diaper.

Re: Changing table - until when?

dd is 9 months... I still use it but I feel your painChat Icon she reaches around and tries to grab every thing - powder, diaper cream, extra diapers, name it. she rolls over. she sits up and grabs the window sill, she kicks her feet into the wall and pushes off... oh and she cries everyyytime I lay her down to change her - until she realizes the havoc she can cause, then starts that. it is exhausting and I pray this phase ends lol I did stop bringing her into her room for diaper/pj's after her bath... now I do all that on the bathroom floor. which is a challenge in itself but as a pp said, at least i'm not worried about her falling

I stopped using it early on maybe 8 months b/c it was dangerous. we moved to the floor until she was potty trained. I have no idea how anyone uses for as long as they are saying hahahaha. DD was a nut!

My DD never fussed on the changing table, at any age. She knew she had to get a diaper and get dressed and she just went with the flow and laid there. She never gave me a problem so it never even dawned on me to not use it until she was potty trained and then it really wasn't necessary to keep it anymore. Chat Icon

This! DD turned 2 in July and is definitely taller then her table is long. But it's the only place I can change her where it doesn't become a wrestling match.
