Service contract and Oil delivery
My service contract with Meenan expired last month and they are now charging us $339 for a platinum level plan. Never heard of this ‘plan’ before and $339 is an exhorbitant amount of money to pay for them to basically come and clean the boiler every year since our boiler was changed the year we bought the house. My oil delivery contract expires in November. I don’t know why the contracts don’t expire at the same time but for some reason this is now how it is… We’ve been with them for 4 years now. And I remember last year I was pissed I had to haggle the service contract and wanted to switch to someone else, but when I called Slomins (too $$) and Petro (they are a Meenan sister company so they couldn’t help me!?) Meenan gave me a better deal and I just stayed. Can I continue with the oil deliveries through Meenan and get a service contract through someone else? I will try to get them to lower the $339 but can I have each with a different oil company?

I wasn’t sure if I could do that and didn’t even think to ask!! I will definitely do that. Come November I can shop around for a new company. I’m tired of Meenan. Their customer service is terrible.

You don't need to even have a service contract so there is nothing to ask Meenan about. You contract is over for service and that is that. SHop around come fall and you can usually get free serivce with an oil contract.

Shop around BEFORE hand. That way, the day your contract expires you ahve a new one in place.
I have Lewissy and LOVE them.

You don't need a service contract. We just signed with Slomins. $3.49 per gallon locked for a year and $129 for the service contract.

Thank you all for the suggestion to wait to renew on the contract. I spoke with Meenan earlier and they would only budge $50 less. Or I could do a prorated monthly contract for some ridiculous amount until it was time to renew the oil delivery. I am getting a credit for that and moving on to someone else once my oil contract expires. I wasn't happy with Meenan for the last year. Of course today I get the nicest customer service person. Normally they are not very friendly and even rude.
