Disney q- Mickeys backyard BBQ- worth it?

Has anyone been to this? Is it worth it? My kids are 5.5 and 3.5. We would have to do it on the first night
We arrive. Wondering how much of a pain it is to get there from the magic kingdom? Or the poly? Thanks in advance!!!

We didn't go but I had booked it. Then I had read so many reviews saying small children basically get trampled trying to get to see the characters. So I cancelled. Hopefully someone on here can answer if they actually went. You would have to go to the Contemporary and take a boat from there I believe.

I have been trying to book a reservation for a few weeks now. I keep checking for cancellations because they have no availability on dates we are there.

My family has always loved everything Disney, but we hated this event. We even went a second time to see if the first time was an off night. It was crowded, hot, chaotic and the food was terrible.

I thought you did it last time for some reason. There is a boat you can take there not sure if you can take it from the poly or catch it at the contemp or mk.

I hear mixed reviews the big turn off is it is outdoors no air conditioning from what I have read. There is a cover but it is not indoors. Aug/ Sept will be miserably hot. I hear it can be a mixed experience. Have you read reviews over on disboards or allearsnet? I know people who did it and hated it, and those who enjoyed it.

Have you looked at hoop de doo review? I know a few people who enjoyed it and had kids your children's ages.

Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary is a good choice :)

If they are into Disney Junior do the buffet at Hollywood Studios
