DS is 9 weeks old and we went for the first time about 3 weeks ago, so I'd say he was about 6 weeks old.

My stroller (uppababy) has a bassinet attachment so I used that.

Put DS in the stroller, chair on my back, large beach bag and small chair umbrella in the stroller basket. Dragged the stroller behind me in the sand.

It wasn't bad. As soon as I got settled, I fed him and he pretty much napped in the bassinet the entire time.

My DD was born last year on June 14th, and we didn't bring her at all. It was also stifling hot for a good part of July and I kept her indoors in general during that weather.

About 8-10 weeks. He was born Memorial Day, so around the end of July, I think.

DS is 5 months and we haven't brought him yet. We have brought him to my mom's to go in the pool. DS has really bad eczema, so we don't want him to stay in the heat for too long and in the pool he can get relief while it's harder to do that at the beach. If his eczema wasn't such a problem, I would have brought him already!

I walked the Boardwalk almost every night with my newborn at Sunken Meadow. He was there for the first time when he was a week old. It was good to get out and walk and watch the sunset- so beautiful.

As far as going to the beach/sand/ chairs/blankets/ we waited until he was one. Some people have baby tents and bring them when they are newborns though.

I personally think 4 weeks is too young to bring to the beach. It's too hot and the sun is very strong. They are so vulnerable during that time. My daughter will be 6 months this coming Friday and I took her for the first time on Thursday only because I couldn't get my MIL to babysit. I kept her away from the sun as much as possible.

I personally wouldn't bring your newborn at all this summer in the middle of the day.

Maybe in the early evening, after 5 or so, but I would be so worried about overheating since babies can't regulate their body temps, and sunburns.

If it is a cooler day (low 80s, high 70s)and well shaded maybe I would consider it, but definitely not in the type of weather we had this weekend.

My parent's live near the beach we go too, so what we have been doing is I go down with my boys and my mom stays with my daughter (the 4 week yr old) at the house in the AC and then we switch, I go back to the house and she comes down. My Dad is with the boys the whole time.

I was just wondering, I am not comfortable bringing her yet. I am waiting longer and I also want it to be cooler out.

I never brought my newborn to the beach! I honestly don't honk that's the best place for them at such a young age. I had my daughter covered up in a stroller last yr at 2 months old at a resort and she wasn't even outside that long and started getting overheated. I had to bring her inside the resort to cool down. I can't imagine being at a beach with no escape from the heat.

Dd's first time at the beach was when she just turned 1 yr and we were in DR.

DD was just about 5 weeks her first trip to the beach. We sat under the umbrella and she was fine. Stayed a few hours.
