Delivering Twins Early

How early did your twins come? I am entering my 32 week mark this weekend. DH and I have been talking what if they are born earlier? Nothing is ready yet and we are still working on getting the nursery in gear! My Dr said as early as a month before they can be born but most likely I will come early at 37-38 weeks.

Thoughts????

36 weeks!

Don't worry about the nursery bc U prob wont use it in the beginning. Set up your pack n play, bouncy seats, swings, get diapers, wipes, bottles ready.

Don't wait just in case they come early. With twins, you could be doing great 1 day and in the hospital the next day!

And I agree don't worry about the nursery. It was really just used to store their clothes and change diapers sometimes in the beginning.

I just delivered on Sunday at exactly 38 weeks! I didn't make it to my scheduled csection which would have been 2 days later.

I made it to exactly 36 weeks when my water broke - my twins came home with me

I am more the exception and I put my twins right in one crib

but I still had my dh running the day before the twins to get me the last few items I needed for the nursery]

but with my older son we never had a nursery - he slept in the pack and play for the first 4 months of his life - so don't stress

you need to make sure the base is installed for car seat
bouncy seat and swing are together and place to sleep
and that you have a comfortable place to sit with them -

I did not have my glider right away with my older son and that was difficult couple of weeks - rocking in a chair is very comforting for them

I delivered at 33w6d and I was not ready at all!
We were living in a studio apt in long beach waiting to close on our new house, my bag wasn't packed, no baby stuff was put together.

Honestly it all worked out just fine! My dad got the car seats installed, we stayed with my parents for the first 3 weeks or so. Newborns need very little. We were able to move and unpack all our stuff with newborn twins.

Dont wash any clothes until you find out what they weigh. The most likely will be wearing newborn or 0-3 for 2 weeks & I mean 2 weeks..so it's a waste.
I had my boys 38 weeks & made it it my scheduled c section. They were both over 7lbs... good luck

Delivering Twins Early

All you need are clean white onesies, a couple of pj's/outfits, their bassinet, towels and washcloths, diapers, wipes and bottles. The rest will come later. You won't even care. I swear

My twins were born at 32 weeks exactly. One day I was fine and the next night my water broke an I had them the day after that. I was not ready at all but it all worked out in the end. They were in the hospital for 30 days and we got stuff done between work, and going to the hospital. They didn't need much at all in the beginning. Pack n play, bouncy seat, swing, bottles and we were set. Try we're in preemie clothes for a couple of weeks and then NB clothes for about 2 months and then 0-3 month clothes for a bit.

Re: Delivering Twins Early

Had my girls 37w2d. No NICU and they came home with me. I was as ready as I could be but am a BTDT mom (DS was 2.5 at the time).

I agree with the others. NBs don't need a whole lot so try not to stress over it. Have the bouncy seats and whatever you plan on putting them in to sleep available and you will be fine.

Re: Delivering Twins Early

I tried to have baby room set up for diaper changes etc.. at 35 weeks. I had twins at 36 weeks. and was able to just get rock n plays out of boxes and used those until we got the rest of the "stuff" settled. But really they lived in those rock n plays first few weeks.

They did come home with me right away, no complications!

I wish you the best Chat Icon

Re: Delivering Twins Early

I'm 33 weeks today, so far all is going well except for this plus 1 protein in my urine. I had to do the 24 hour collection and then they tested my blood. Probably won't here anything back till Monday. But I feel good. DH and I are going to order the nursery today. And I think I have all that I need! It's gonna be here before I know it!!!!! I can't wait to hold my twin miracles in my arms!!!

I delievered at 32weeks 5 days, one girl spent 23 days in the NICU and the other spent 57 days in the NICU, so we were able to get stuff done. Good luck!

Re: Delivering Twins Early

I am at 33 1/2 weeks..I have high protein in the urine and the Drs say I have a mild case of pre-clampsia. Tonight I have an appt where they are checking the urine again as well as my blood pressure. I need these babies to stay inside just a little while longer!!! Just have to stay cool and drink lots and lots of water with my feet elevated. Stay calm and no stress!!!
