Mandatory Reading in schools

Can someone throw out some of the books kids are now required to read in High School?

Mandatory Reading in schools

I don't think that there are universally required books anymore. A few years ago when I taught 9th and 12th grade social studies, I remember my students reading Romeo and Juliet, Fahrenheit 451, A Streetcar Named Desire, Flowers for Algernon, and Inherit the Wind. That's all I can remember! This was like 4 years ago.

Some classic books I've taught (multiple times) are:

The Lord of the Flies
Romeo and Juliet
The Odyssey
The Catcher in the Rye
To Kill a Mockingbird
Macbeth
Pride and Prejudice
Hamlet
The Great Gatsby

Let me know if you need to know more!

(Edited because I just realized you asked for required.)
