Mommy's of 2 or more

I have a son thats 2.5 and a 2 week old daughter...

How do you do the following:

1. Bath time for both? Do you both on the same night? One one night and the one the next?

2. if you pump.... pump, feed baby and entertain toddler?

3. Get anything done in your house?

4. Shower on days you are alone with both?

DS is almost 4 and he either takes a bath at night or showers with me in the morning while DD (3 weeks) is napping. Sometimes he does this only every other day.

2. if you pump.... pump, feed baby and entertain toddler?

I don't pump.

3. Get anything done in your house?

Ha that's funny! Right now I am SAHM until DD is 6 months so I try to just get 1 thing done at home every day whether it's laundry, vacuuming, cleaning a room, etc.

4. Shower on days you are alone with both?

I do it in the morning before DH leaves for work.

I have a 5 week old and an almost 2 year old.

1. Bath - I am lucky that Dh is home early so we take turns bathing while one watches the other.

2. I don't pump but I BF and when I do I let DS watch TV or play. I put the gate up so he is stuck in the child proof living room with me.

3. I don't lol. I try to straighten up while they are sleeping. Empty the dishwasher and laundry. I also have a cleaning lady every 2 weeks which to me was the best thing I ever did especially once I go back to work.

4. I shower while both are sleeping and I do it quick! Sometimes I bring the bouncy seat into the bathroom to shower while 2 year old is napping.

Re: Mommy's of 2 or more

My boys are 25 months apart so I know how you feel. Now my oldest just turned 4 and the baby will be 2 next month. Chat Icon

1. Very early on I bathed separate. DS 1 was 2 and he went in the regular bath with the mat ans toys. When DS 2 was an infant I would use a changing pad and put a towel under the baby and did a sponge bath on the bathroom floor. They didn't start bathing together till my youngest was about 12 months and I kept him in a seat for a few months too. Kept the water low. Before they bathed together I either did the sink for the baby, the sponge bath that I explained above or the big duck. We have a very big shower with a tub in it do it was easy to have the duck tub on the shower floor. DH usually alwas helped. If he wasn't around then only the older got a bath.

2. When I bf or pumped it was during the older ones nap or I put on the tv for him. Good babysitter sometimes. Lol

3. I kept DS 1 in daycare part time for 3 days a week since it was summer and they did lots of outside activities. Plus, I wanted to keep with his routine knowing I was going back to work. Now I work at home part time so I'm lucky. Did most stuff when my older one was in daycare for a few hours the 3 days a week. The baby was always good with chilling in the swing or bouncy. Either that or when the baby slept I cleaned, etc.

4. That was when I did my showering at night after they both went to bed. Had DS 2 in the summer so wasn't bad to just throw on shorts and a tank. I lived in that all that first summer with my hair in a ponytail. Lol

You do what you can.

I alternated bath nights until DD was about 3 months old.
2. if you pump.... pump, feed baby and entertain toddler? I nursed. I pumped at night after DS (older) went to bed. For nursing, I would have books or small puzzles, or toys that DS could sit next to me while I nursed DD.

3. Get anything done in your house?
Hire a cleaning lady. Laundry DH did.

4. Shower on days you are alone with both? I would shower before DH left for work. I only got to shave my legs once every few weeks and sometimes it was only one leg.Chat Icon

Dd1 is 3 and dd2 is 9 weeks.
Bath- dd1 every other night. Dd2 honestly 1-2 week. I just don't have time. Bad mom haha. My plan is when dd1 doesn't bathe dd2 gets one. That hasn't happen but it well ( I keep telling myself).

When dd2 is napping, dd1 is busy (tv, playing etc) I run around like a looney. Today dh came home to a big mess b/c dd2 wanted to be held all day. I do get more done than I thought I would most days.

Shower I do everyday no matter what. If dh has time I jump in quick before he leaves. If not I wait for dd2 to nap and dd1 eats breakfast and watches tv. I lock the door and kitchen. Sometimes she sits on my bed. Shes been really good about it.

Dd1 is pretty good about entertaining herself.

I just feel like my son is watching too much tv! Now he wakes up begging for Jake and if he doesn't get it he flips out! I am trying to get away from the tv. When I pump it is the biggest issue.

I have 3 under 3. I will tell you it will get a little easier once your dd is a little older and a little more predictable with a semi schedule.

1. Bath time for both? Do you both on the same night? One one night and the one the next?

I only give the baby a bath every 2-3 days. In the beginning I would give the twins baths when I could sometimes in the morning when they first woke up and sometimes just whenever the baby was sleeping. Other nights I put the baby in the bouncer in the bathroom, bathed the twins and then got them settle to watch a little tv while I gave the baby a bath.

2. if you pump.... pump, feed baby and entertain toddler?
hands free pumping bra! I got on the floor with them and did a puzzle etc

3. Get anything done in your house?

Now that the baby goes to bed early I get things done a night before that I just learned that things and cleaning could wait.

4. Shower on days you are alone with both?
Mostly at night now but also if the baby woke up at 5 I would shower quick before the twins woke up or when the twins were napping I brought the bouncy seat in the bathroom

Re: Mommy's of 2 or more

My son is 22 months and my daughter is 4 months old. Life has gotten a lot easier over the past month!

1. Baths - We do on the same night. My husband will usually do one and I do the other.

2. I went back to work a few weeks ago - so I pump at work and then I pump right before I go to bed at like 10. I breastfeed when I'm with them both. It gets tricky sometimes. I try to set Connor up with a t.v. show or activity before starting to feed her.

3. Ha - I get nothing done around the house - I've accepted that my house is going to be messy!

4. I shower at night after both kids are sleeping and my husband is at home.

Re: Mommy's of 2 or more

I have a 2.5 year old and a 5 week old so I can relate!

How do you do the following:

1. Bath time for both? Do you both on the same night? One one night and the one the next?
I do DS (newborn's) bath and DH does DD's bath.

2. if you pump.... pump, feed baby and entertain toddler? I nurse but I try to pump 2x a day to build a stash and to have some on hand when I want some wine. I pump after his first feeding of the morning (before I go in and get DD) and right before bed)

3. Get anything done in your house?
They often nap at the same time for at least a little bit so I get some done then, DH also swoops in after work and is in charge of them for an hour or so at night so that i can do work around the house.

4. Shower on days you are alone with both?
DS wakes up around 6 for his first feed, nurse him, put him back down, I'll shower, pump and eat breakfast at the same time, then get DD.

1) My DD (4.5) gets a shower every other morning. My DS (almost 3 months) gets a bath every 2-3 days in the mornings. If they fall on the same day I bathe him first then shower her.

2) During bottles my DD just plays in the room wherever I am feeding him.

3) My house is generally clean because I am pretty organized. I am always picking up and straightening things as I go through the day. Whenever I go from one room to the next I bring something to put away and everything has a "home" so the pick up is quick and easy.

At night I always make sure everything is put away and in order so we start the day fresh. Dishwasher loaded and run. All toys away. Bottles cleaned and ready to go. I hate waking up to a mess.

As for vacuuming , dusting, etc I try to do a big cleaning once to start and then I keep a daily schedule where I focus on one or two rooms a day so everything is always clean but I am not spending more than 20-30 min cleaning. I usually do it when DS is napping and my DD just entertains herself.

4) I shower every morning. I cannot function without a shower. DD always entertains herself in my room either with toys or a TV show. DS is either napping or in my room near the bathroom door in one of his swings or chairs. I just shower quick but I ALWAYS shower.Chat Icon
