Question re: starting table foods

My LO is 9 months old and wont eat anything solid. I tried giving him only a half of a banana puff and he threw up. Wont eat a cheerio and even if his rice cereal has 1 lump in it, he gags. Everything has to be pureed. The doctor told me to keep trying everyday and he will get used to it.
Just wondering if anyone else dealt with this and if anyone has any advice...

Thanks

Question re: starting table foods

My first son was this way. He started getting the hang of it around 10 months with Cheerios and then began eating some other things slowly but surely. It was a long transition though to full on table food. He was still eating stage 2 foods when he was 15 or 16 months, along with some solids.

I am in the same boat! DS is 9.5 months, still gags if I give him any textures or puffs.

Re: Question re: starting table foods

I am sorry to say but I am so happy someone dealt or is dealing with this...LOL I flat out asked the doctor if something was wrong with him... He is almost 9.5 months... ok, i will just keep trying. I know he wont be eating baby food at 16 years old, but who knows with the gagging and throwing up

Re: Question re: starting table foods

DS1 has sensory issues and did gag on Amy solids. Of course this does not mean your lo does. Keep trying. Maybe crushing the puffs and putting it on your li's tongue for him to feel the texture but not have to chew yet. Fm me if you have any questions, but I wouldn't worry. Still early. Some babies just aren't ready for a while

Thank God is getting warm out. I will just feed him on our patio so I can just hose the throw up instead of cleaning my floors...hahaha

Re: Question re: starting table foods

My Mom had DS on her lap yesterday and she was holding a cookie. He lunged for it and took the smallest taste.. he didnt even bite it, his top tooth skaved the cookie. He threw up all over my nephews preschool classroom during his "moving on up" ceremony. This transition isnt going to be easy... hahahaha

Re: Question re: starting table foods

my son was the same way until about 12 months. Now, though he is picky, he eats well! It took time. By 12-15 months it was much better.

We kept him on formula until 14 months just to ensure he was getting proper nutrition since he wasn't eating table foods.
