Re: sayville reading and math program?

Are you asking about the district curriculum? If so, they follow the common core.

They do have the RTI program to identify kids who might be falling behind so they will ‘tier’ them. Tier 1 is no intervention required, Tier 2 is some intervention (I think this is usually in class extra help), Tier 3 is deeper intervention (I believe this is where they would pull kids out for resource room, etc..)

They also have enrichment programs. Mathletes starts in 3rd grade, SEED starts in 4th . Math Olympiads starts in 5th. In Middle School they do the Core Standards for 6th grade math – and continue Math Olympiads and SEED (They are pulled out of class for this – usually an elective class). 7th grade is the first year they have ‘honors’ – but it’s only for math so kids will either be Math 7 or Math 7 Compacted (the ‘honors’ program which includes elements of 8th grade math). The continue SEED in 7th grade for the kids who participated in 6th.

Re: sayville reading and math program?

the common core curriculum is not a reading or math program.

i was wondering what program(s) they use. go math? enVision math? literacy collaborative? Wilson? etc....

i read that link a couple of times and that kindergarten, 1st grade, etc. (elem info) is so out of date. and there is no program info there which is why i wanted to get an idea from parents who live in-district.

They use Everyday Math and I believe, a mix between basal and balanced literacy
