if you potty trained a boy...

when did you start introducing the potty and did you get a separate one or did you use one on your own toilet. I know DS is prob too young, he's 21 months, but I was thinking of introducing him to it so he gets familiar with it

Re: if you potty trained a boy...

DS is 28 months. I started to kind of introduce it when he was just about 2. I would just sit him on the potty whenever I was going, or like if his last diaper change was awhile ago and he felt dry... or before the bath at night. Just kind of whenever i felt like it, nothing too stressful. I bought him one of the seats that goes on the regular toilet. i have him sit down to pee for now.
I wanted to go "hard core" with the potty training over the winter... but he was sick on and off all winter, so we missed out Chat Icon I'm gonna start stepping it up in the next couple weeks- like leaving him without a diaper for short periods of time while we're home, etc and see what happens! LOL
he seems to pick up on stuff really quickly- so hopefully it'll be smooth!

I did the 3 day method. He was 2 yr 3 months.
Totally worked for pee.
Poop followed in perfection 3 months later. That meant a lot of poo in underwear, 3 months worth, but he was totally potty trained by 2 and a half!

DS is 18 mos and taps his peepee when he's going. So we just started introducing it. When I pee I have him sit on his potty fully clothed. Nothing major yet, but I have high hopes so I figured introducing it now won't hurt!

Re: if you potty trained a boy...

From the second he was able to roam the house on his own, he has known what the toilet was. He understood that people go pee & poo on it since he was 12 months or so. He was never afraid of it because he woud see us all the time. We went cold turkey with taking away the diaper a few months before his 3rd b-day- he would have been ready before then but I had a newborn as well so I wasn't ready. He day trained in 1 day with poo & pee! Took the diaper away for naps right away & took it away for night a week after that 1st day. We use a toilet seat that has the little seat for kids attached.
