What age to start solid foods
DS just turned 4 months on Sunday and had his four month checkup on Monday. I asked the pediatrician about starting rice and solids and he told me to wait until DS is 6 months because starting him too early may lead to asthma or allergies.
I know my SIL started feeding my nieces rice and solids at 4 months. I also read 4 months is the age to start introducing cereal and solids. I'm kind of on the fence about waiting but DH wants to wait because he listens to everything the dr says.
Can you ladies help out a first time mommy here and tell me what age you started your DC on solids and cereal?

My dd turned 4 months on Monday...I started rice on Tuesday after her 4 month check up as per my pediatrician...he said do all 4 rices for the month then at 5 months we will start fruits

i'm a 1st time mom as well, and dd just had her 4 month visit yesterday. the pediatrician told me i am free to start anything i like. he said "i don't care if you give her steak, as long as it's in puree form"  he said just no honey, and no milk... otherwise he doesn't care if it's veggies, fruits or cereal. i'm gonna pick up some oatmeal cereal next time i go shopping and start there.

We waited until 6 months as per our ped. Start now if you feel like it. But there's no reason to rush into it either.

ITA. We got the go ahead at 4 months to start cereal, so we did. Ped suggested to try rice, then oatmeal, then barley, sticking to 1 cereal per week to watch for any reactions. Rice was a bit binding for her, so we stopped after a few days, took a break and then went on to oatmeal. Dr. suggested starting with 1 tsp in the morning and eventually building to 2TB twice/day (am & pm). We're not at 2 TB yet, and just introducing the pm feeding. Just follow your baby's lead.

What age to start solid foods
Started at 4 months with oatmeal. Then at 4.5 months started orange veggies and fruits.

I wasn't too sure since the only experience I had was my nieces. I will talk to DH and see what we decide. Thank you ladies for your inputs I appreciate it!!!!

What age to start solid foods
I started DS at 4 months. And IMO the allergies or asthma is BS. Start whenever you feel it's right for your child.
